Burned hand

DS(16) burned his hand several days ago. He doesn't want to get it looked at but is in considerable pain with it.

Does it need medical attention in your opinion? Hoping to be able to go into town later and show the photos to a pharmacist to see what they think.

He's not home until Friday night and leaves again on Sunday so we would have to find a walk in or something if he does need it looking at. Thanks.

If it hasn't got any bigger and no sign of infection I'd leave it.

Unfortunately it's on his hand so is going to be very sensitive.

Keep dry and out of the sun.

You could ask the Pharmacist in Boots for advice.

I'd be concerned about the white skin. I'm not medical but I think that's a sign of a pretty deep burn.

From NHS website

You should go to a hospital A&E department for:

all chemical and electrical burns
large or deep burns – any burn bigger than the injured person's hand
burns that cause white or charred skin – any size
burns on the face, hands, arms, feet, legs or genitals that cause blisters

Thank you, he is so stubborn, I told him to get it checked by the medic and he said it will be fine Hmm

Ouch! I thought the white was because he had some soothing cream on it! I'm not sure but could a visit to the chemist be any good?

It does look white enough to be cream on it, doesn't it.
I shall drag him to tesco pharmacy when he gets home as nowhere else will be open locally by then.
My guess is that if they advise it needs to be looked at then he will listen to them.
Thanks.

The pharmacist said it doesn't look too bad, to use an antiseptic cream to keep it free of infection. If it starts to weep or turn more yellow then to get it seen to. Might still take him in if it looks worse than the photo but feeling reassured now. Thanks all.
