Why does being tired make you feel sick?

17 year old dd sometimes feels really sick when she’s exhausted. And today my 12 year old dd feels the same. She’s had dance show rehearsals every night this week and is exhausted.

She’s sitting by the loo just in case but not been sick so far. She wants to sleep but feels worse lying down.

I'm not sure why but it is common.
I'd let your 12yo go back to bed and go to school in the afternoon

Update - dd has been sick Sad she’s supposed to be dancing in her show tonight.

Poor DD.

I honestly think it's ridiculous to have rehearsals every night at that age on top of school and presumably homework.

twosoups1972 · 28/03/2019 09:36

Yes I agree kaytee Tech rehearsals mon and Tuesday, and dress last night. I don’t know if it’s a bug or just sheer exhaustion.

Is it nerves? I've felt the same before going for interviews!

RhymingRabbit · 28/03/2019 09:51

It could be that she has an underlying virus that is worse as a result of not enough energy to fight it....chicken and egg.

twosoups1972 · 28/03/2019 09:58

I just don’t know. She’s been sick again. If it is a bug she can’t dance tonight and we are supposed to be watching. So sorry for her Sad

I would have thought that vomiting (as opposed to just feeling sick) is a virus. Poor girl.

SpoonBlender · 28/03/2019 10:23

Either a bout of noro or a bout of nerves for tonights show. Poor thing either way. Noro seems most likely if she feels sicker lying down. Time to get the chicken soup on and wrap her in a duvet on the sofa. With a bowl.

twosoups1972 · 28/03/2019 10:28

Really noro?? I am emetophobic so panicking Sad

If it is noro, what are the chances of me getting it? She's managed to get it neatly into the toilet

This is true. An example if you go to the gym and do a really big workout sometimes you feel sick after.

When your tired and or working out all your Energy focuses on going to the muscle to sustain then. the stomach is the first area to relax, blood flows away from it to other area when this happens therefore you feel sick.

twosoups1972 · 28/03/2019 11:34

Yes I guess so, although if she's actually throwing up it can't just be down to exhaustion?

Low blood sugar?

NorthEndGal · 28/03/2019 11:53

It's a hormone thing.
You don't get the right balance of you don't sleep, and if your hormone levels are off, it can result in upset stomach, nausea and lose stools

When my kids have tummy bugs I use anti bacterial wipes( which I don’t flush) to clean loo seat, loo handle and taps. Keep the loo topped up with bleach and insist on really good hand washing. Seperateor disposable towels.
Keep separate cups forks and spoons for the Ill
Person for 48hours after last symptoms.

Ohyesiam · 28/03/2019 12:29

I meant to say it always works for us

twosoups1972 · 28/03/2019 14:28

She has just been sick again Sad Luckily into a bowl and it was mostly liquid so managed to clear out and clean with bleach. Don't think she's going to be well enough this evening unfortunately.

I am wandering the house feeling anxious, cleaning and washing my hands and taking sips of grape juice which is supposed to ward off tummy bugs.
