as in abroad

dd(16) has Asbergers and cannot cope with heat; dh is desperate to go abroad at least somewhere warm. We only want to go for a week incase she hates everything so no long haul but not got a clue where.
Hit me with your suggestions please- self catering Grin

Denmark
Netherlands
Ireland
Norway
Scotland

All reachable with a short flight / ferry
English spoken and understood (if that is a consideration)
Lots to see and do

Northern France?

SavageBeauty73 · 27/03/2019 20:24

Northern France. We went a few years ago and it wasn't boiling. Cloudy. UK weather.

The Netherlands are lovely in the summer

Bobbybobbins · 27/03/2019 20:30

Normandy is lovely and my two DS with ASD loved it

West coast of France - take car, overnight ferry to st malo to reduce car distance

We had a lovely summer break in Oslo. A couple of hours flight. Nice weather, warmer than here but not scorching. Lots to see and do, including beaches. We stayed in a fantastic air BnB.

cranstonmanor · 27/03/2019 20:39

Netherlands

Same climate as England, so if that's too hot for your family scrap NL.

BoogleMcGroogle · 27/03/2019 20:46

I'd agree with a northern France. Brittany is like Cornwall but less crowded. The beaches are stunning. Some of Normandy is gorgeous too. Also? The Danish and German coastlines are nice, although not as stunning as France. We also enjoyed a super family holiday in the Netherlands, along the inland sea towards beautiful Amersfoort.

thank you everyone

looks like it's Brittany Smile

Have a look at Pierre et Vacances accommodation, formulaic but clean and practical. Some are within complexes with pools, activities, supermarket on site, near beach etc. If you can avoid French school holidays they tend to be quieter.

Go somewhere with a forest. The shade will make things cooler.
