artificial plants and flowers in the home - yay or nay?

I love plants and flowers in my house but I keep killing them as I'm quite neglectful.

I have seen some nice artificial ones however I just can't get over the nursing or funeral home association surrounding them.

The quality has improved over the years however I can't shake off my upbringing of them being tacky.

What is the general consensus these days?

FiL has loads and they're awful. Really naff. But BiL and SiL have a big fake green tree in their spare room and it's very realistic and not too bad.

Personally I prefer succulent-type plants - we haven't managed to kill those yet anyway!

Those who kill plants do not despair! I was a standing joke (my fab PIL got me a fake orchid as a joke present) and then we moved. And my plants love me suddenly (the aloe and tobacco plants have now flowered and the £1 poinsettia is still glorious). So it might be your home rather than you!

Get yourself a peace lily, I'm awful with plants but it's great. It wilts when it needs watered and is really low maintenance, just occasionally needs dead leaves removed

No. Fake flowers and plants are just awful. Just get some hard to kill stuff.

The Abigail Ahern ones are great. Pricey but worth it. Debenhams have them online

TK Maxx have some lovely fakes in at the moment.
I have a mix in the kitchen window of fake and real. I can kill a plant within a week usually.
