Would it be a nightmare to get a piano up these steps?

I’ve name changed incase the house and then my circumstances are identifiable Grin

Would these steps be a disaster waiting to happen? I’m assuming so but wishful thinking incase there’s any chance of keeping the piano.

If not how much should I expect to pay someone to move a piano from one house to another in the same town?

Would it be a nightmare to get a piano up these steps?

We moved ours up very similar. And steps inside.
There were 2 guys.
Very heavy, iron framed piano.
£60

Oh really? That’s given me hope then! I have moved it before but only from level floor->van->level floor and that was 3 of us but not professional piano movers. I’d happily pay £60 to have it moved.

We used a couple of local guys who markets themselves as man with van type thing..house moves, ikea deliveries etc. Sent them photos of stairs first but they were completely unphased. I was very worried and thought it would be a fortune.

That’s good to know! Thanks ruby.

If it's a good/expensive piano use a proper piano mover. Or make sure it's adequately insured. But it is doable.

I've also used a man with a van type person, it was £35 across town, but no steps to deal with either end.

My grandmother used Mr Shifter. Very reasonable father and son team.

DontCallMeShitley · 27/03/2019 18:57

I saw a van this week which said (among other things) piano removers on the side.

The name was Mr. Shifter if that is any help.

Well, five of us shifted a 1930s piano up four flights of stairs into a mate's flat in exchange for a share of pizza and two beers each and the piano survived with no damage. Each flight looked roughly the same pitch and were concrete.

So it shouldn't be too hard for a couple of people used to moving things. Straps are very useful things.

Thank you everyone! I’m so glad it’s possible. I’ll look for a Mr shifter in my area.
