Daft Q about NHS job application

I'm applying for a job with the NHS, never done so before. It obviously asks for my qualifications individually.

Do I need to list all 12 GCSE's individually? Normally on an application I would list my english, maths and science results and then say 9 other subjects A-C grade.

Please can someone offer some guidance?

Right, best see if I can remember what they all are then!

I also want to study for another qualification but haven't yet applied for it. It has a section for proposed qualifications, would I mention that in there or is it if you have an impending degree result for example?

If you're applying online via NHS Jobs you might not have the space to list all of them as well as your other qualifications; it's a while since I was on the site, so I can't remember what the limit is. I'm now quite old and have done a lot of training and education over the years, so I think I used to put something like "6 GCSEs including English and Maths" and then put "Grades A-C" in the grades column. It seems ridiculous if you've got a degree or professional qualification that's higher than the GCSEs that you have to put them in, but if they're on the essential selection criteria for the job you'd be screened out at that stage if you don't list them.

And if you're studying for a qualification, especially if it's relevant to the job, I'd definitely include that; say it was something like the Care Certificate at Level 3 (if I've got that right, terminology changes all the bloomin' time), then put "Care Certificate (pending)" in there. The NHS are red hot on CPD and training, even in these straitened times.

Just be thankful your qualifications aren't from another country, that REALLY bamboozles some HR staff, in my experience, despite the equivalency charts! Best of luck.

(Oh, and one of the really nice things about NHS jobs is that if you save your profile, and it turns out this job isn't right for you, you can use the same profile next time and just update it and change your supporting statement.)
