Mirena Coil Removal

Hi

I have a gynae appointment next week at which I want the Consultant to remove my mirena coil as I've given it a year now and it's just not agreeing with me. Am I right that this is a very quick procedure? I know if I ask for it to be removed it will be, I guess I just want to check this isn't something I need to flag in advance of an appointment?

Thanks

I had mine removed, didn't feel a thing and wasn't even aware it was out, took seconds, I did get another one in though

Yes - took all of a few seconds and was over before I realised it had begun. Much easier than having them put in

Yes very quick and painless. Nurse told me to cough and it was gone!

Yes, takes mere seconds.

@IRememberSoIDo - out of interest how is it not agreeing with you? I'm suffering at the moment & thinking it could be down to my mirena but unsure

Thank you all. It's not agreeing with me in that I got it in an attempt to help endometriosis that I was diagnosed with last year. Unfortunately the pain is worse than it ever has been and I'm now having periods that last ten days and I am absolutely shattered as a result. I have also noticed that over time my mood has deteriorated massively and I'm extremely down and anxious which is not like me and having researched it a lot I feel it's the coil at the root cause. The consultant did warn of side effects but we agreed it was worth a shot to see if it helped. I suspect I'm now going to be referred for a scan for adenomyosis which means I'm probably looking at a hysterectomy at some stage. They can have the lot at this stage!!

@IRememberSoIDo - sorry to hear your problems with it.

Exactly the same with feeling extremely down, almost hopeless & very anxious and have never ever felt like this before, it's very not me & thinking it could be down to Mirena
