Hello!

I was to get my Nana something for Mother's day (I know it makes no sense but my DM, her DD is dead).

So...she doesn't go out, has limited mobility and can't write well or fasten things easily so that rules out anything activity based or jewelery.

I think I've maxed out on little potted plants and she always makes someone get in a cake for us so sweet things not a good idea.

Any more ideas?? Other than a "world's best Nanny" mug. I know it sounds naff but I got my DF one with Dad on it and he loved it.

That's a lovely thought. I recently got my DH's grandad an audio CD of inspector frost. He can't see the tv too well now and has exhausted his vinyl and cd collection. I suggested it and he was very keen (he's quite vocal on the many things he's not keen on, so think it was genuine!). There's lots of different audio books on Amazon, still on CD if buying for someone without the tech for downloads.

I was going to say audio CD.
Or something nice for in the bath.
Large magnifying glass.
Bed socks.
One of those books of photos of life 80-90 years ago.

A smaller wool throw for her knees. Not too big so it doesn't drag on the floor. We got one from Avoca for my MIL and she still gets starry eyed about it. She has poor circulation and it makes a big difference watching telly.

A selection of DVDs of old films and a promise to have movie nights (or matinées) with her. Popcorn and fizzy drinks!

Some ideas:
It Happened One Night (big Oscar winner from the 30s)
Bringing Up Baby
My Favourite Wife

I like the idea of a photobook. Pictures of her as a girl up to pictures of her now and all her much loved family and friends.
I'd get hunting now for some photos- ask around family.

What about a bird feeder for the garden or one of the Perspex ones you can stick to a window ? Can be very therapeutic to just sit and watch them feed . And then supply the birdseed when you visit

Thisnamechanger · 27/03/2019 15:47

I saw those but I thought maybe it needs to be removed and cleaned which might be award of she's tried to do it herself.

I had a brainwave and went for an incredibly boring gift!!! Her ancient Motorola is falling apart so I got a special easy to use mobile phone for her which she can receive grandson piccies on. Might get some Flowers too Grin

A light cashmere wrap if you can afford it.
Alternatively, if your nan is likely to accept it, sari shops have beautiful equivalents. My dh bought one for me when my dd was born in case I wanted a cover while feeding her. I use it now as a sort of shawl. It's bright red, woollen, light but warm and very soft.

Flowers and pictures and biscuits.
