Flushing wet wipes

As much as I dislike the Daily Mail, this is certainly a grim reminder about not flushing wet wipes.
These are the Cubs from my local group & they did an amazing job - but seriously...23 000 wet wipes picked up in just 2 hours. They said they hardly made an impact on the number of wipes buried in the mud.
Surely it must be time to regulate so that all wipes should be biodegradable (not just "flushable"). Or that just impossible?

NEVER put wet wipes down the toilet.

It'll be those horrible moist 'flushable' wipes that people use as well. Personally I think these manufacturers should be held accountable and given a chunk of the repair bills.

Disgusting. Please think about the kind of world you leave for your kids!

DolorestheNewt · 26/03/2019 21:03

Gamerchick yup, re bills.
It would help if "flushable" had a protected meaning when used on packaging. I once read something, by Thames Water I think, that if you put something into a plastic bottle and shake it vigorously in water for 10 or 15 seconds and it disintegrates, it's flushable. If it doesn't, it isn't.
