I wish I knew! On Friday, completely out of the blue, I got a horrible pain in my lower back and I am utterly miserable. No position makes it better. I didn't have an accident or injury, and I have no history of back problems. I'm at a loss. I hope you feel better soon.

Lots of videos on Youtube, exercises you can do (very unlikely to make it worse). Anti-inflamm painkillers or muscle relaxants if severe.

Walk or lie down but avoid sitting.
Walk LOTS!!!
Warmth can help.
Stretching helped me.
Tennis ball wedges between back and wall and move to massage back. Bliss!

Sitting, walking, laying down are all agony. I haven't slept for days. Pain meds haven't helped at all. I have a VERY high pain tolerance so this is very frustrating.

unicornsrule · 26/03/2019 20:17

I normally sit quite abit so hard not to

I bought some heat packs for pack which have helped, taking ibuprofen and doing back exercises

Yoga and gentle stretching is really great for back pain. I'd also recommend incorporating yoga into your daily routine to strengthen your back so that it doesn't come back.

It's a nightmare when it happens though and I've not found anything other than rest and healing sorts it out once it has actually gone.

Move more and stretch and cold compress, bag of frozen peas. Lots of stretches on line. I saw a physio which helped. But moving was the key.

Chiaroscura · 28/03/2019 09:05

Get a massage, do some stretches and move around more.

Heat pack and look into gentle stretching exercises. I used to suffer a lot with chronic neck and shoulder pain and have virtually resolved it with yoga (just at home by myself, I don’t go to classes or anything!). I personally enjoy Yoga with Adriene on YouTube. I find she is quite relaxed and “real” and she gives a lot of options for poses so you can find what’s comfortable for you, rather than trying to force yourself into a certain position.
