Just browsing Jo Jo Maman and came across this peculiar item.

What is it for? and why? and does anyone have one? Surely they're just using the baby seat wrong?

They’re amazing!! Stop colicky clingfiln babies

savageswimmer · 25/03/2019 19:36

There are videos on YouTube of people using them attached to a mamaroo seat and they actually look quite comfortable. The babies are all younger than the ones in the pic tho. Yes I did consider buying one Grin

I just held mine under the arm pits and gently swayed their body back and forth to and from me to relieve trapped wind.

The above was ok for a bit, but 24 hours of doing this (and walking endlessly holding ds in a position he would find bearable) alternating with dh...it was a killer. I would have bought magic beans if I'd have thought it would help!

Then I enjoyed cuddling them.. well me too, but not so much with the screaming!

LynetteScavo · 25/03/2019 19:40

Well the baby seems to be having a good time in pic 3 Grin

I guess you could just strap your baby to your back and it would have a similar effect. Who knows. Parents with a colicky baby will try most things.

Rarfy · 25/03/2019 19:41

I'd give it a go if i had the funds if it does what it says on the tin.

@Palominoo wind is different from reflux. My DD has GORD (Gastro oesophageal reflux disease) still has it at almost 9 but at least she can ask for help now. I still have to make sure she keeps her head above her tummy after she eats, which is difficult when she seems to want to spend her life upside down!

I'm not exaggerating she cried constantly. The only time she didn't cry was when she was sucking (though wouldn't take a 🤬 dummy!) so I spent a lot of time bfing

I held her in a sling or my arms as much as I could but sometimes I had to put her down, go to the toilet, have a shower. Cook. You know. Life.

This would have made not being held less painful for my DD and I'd bought it in a heartbeat.

There are other parents who'll feel the same now. I still follow the small charity for reflux/GORD/GERD.

A fool and their money are soon parted.

Before we were awarded one by Occupational Therapy, we started fundraising for the 1000s of pounds we would need for a specialist bed for ds in order to help with his sleep and reflux. Foolish? I don't know, maybe. Desperate, fucking definitely.

SheisMammyof2 · 25/03/2019 19:50

I'd have happily paid that if it helped my DS with silent reflux when we were averaging 3-4 hours of broken sleep a night. Other things we attempted were letting him sleep semi-upright in his buggy, but we had to keep pushing him to and fro all night, and me attempting to sleep while sitting reclined on our breastfeeding chair while he slept on my chest.

gamerwidow · 26/03/2019 11:33

Does normal tummy time not have the same effect on colic, reflux and flat head though?
Not if you have a child of Satan who will not countenance being laid flat by themselves under any circumstances. I’d have been sorely tempted to get that when DD was small just so I could put her down for 5 minutes. As it was we bought bouncers, swings, slings and carriers to try to stop her crying all the time. She’s an adorable 8 year old but my god she was hard work as a baby.

Think a PP missed a trick though - surely he should be called Bubs Aldrin?
