Has anybody seen Russell Howard live?

And if so, would you say it would be ok to take a 13 year old to see him?

My DS will be 13 in August. He loves Taskmaster and through that started watching various videos of Russell Howard on youtube and is a big fan. He is on tour shortly after his birthday and I though I could get him tickets to go but don't know how suitable a live show would be. I can't see an age limit on the website but I'm aware there could be a lot more swearing or inappropriate stuff if it is live.

He is also a fan of James Acaster and Jack Whitehall if anyone has seen either of them live also? Thank you Smile

I saw him a couple of times at the Edinburgh fringe before he was very famous and once on a big stadium tour after. I think it would be ok for a 13 yo if you aren't too worried about swear words.

I saw him on Sheffield when he was starting out and laughed so much it actually hurt. He wouldn't stop when it came to the end. I'm not sure if he's as funny now but I think it would be OK to take a 13 year old.

Yes - there was a lot of sexual references in both shows (talking about porn, some thrusting, a more serious section about cumming on the face in the current show, and anal... it's well intended but worth knowing it's there!). There's a fair amount of swearing.

Jack Whitehall was quite adult when I saw him; there weren't a lot of kids there.

I haven't seen James Acaster yet so I can't help there!

Some tours tell you they aren't suitable for under 16's etc.

Wacadu · 24/03/2019 20:07

He swore a bit and talked about wanking, but other than that it was fine.

We saw Lee Nelson and a family had brought their kid (13) and it was really cringe sitting near them. He does this oldest/youngest thing and the bloody kid thought he was so special - interrupting, asking for an autograph etc. So if yours is less irritating and can manage adult themes no worries.
I took my 16 year old to Seann Walsh recently and he was fine.

He's pretty sensible, certainly wouldn't be interrupting or anything like that.

He has become pretty immune to the swearing thanks to high school so I'm not too worried about that (not too happy about it either though) It's more the adult themes I'd rather not expose him too. I know he'd love to see him but not sure about the wanking and anal!

I'm now wondering if Josh Widdicombe would be a safer bet Grin

I would say no. Saw him at the royal Albert Hall in 2017. Very sexual for most of the content. I wasn't that impressed either, he told stories which clearly contradicted things he had said earlier on during his show. I like him on his TV show but wouldn't go to see him again myself.

Thanks everyone. I think I might give it a miss until he is a bit older then and look for something a bit more suitable.

From what I've seen on TV I would take a 15-year-old, 13 seems a bit young. Mine said his school is Derry Girls for swearing so it's not that I'd worry about more the sexual references and the tone of these towards women.

I took my DD when she was 15 and I had to explain a few choice terms and words to her on the way home.

applepineapple · 24/03/2019 22:43

Joe Lycett is very funny live. Minimal swearing from what I can remember and nothing rude/ vulgar Grin

Monr0e · 24/03/2019 23:00

Joe Lycett has no tour dates at the moment but I think he would enjoy him too, thank you

George Lewis is fab, less well known but really good.

MrsJayy · 26/03/2019 08:52

I went with my Dd she was older but i thought he was vulgar and not in a funny way i liked him on tv and his good news as it was at the time Dd loved him though

MrsJayy · 26/03/2019 08:56

I really thought the tour would have an age rating but ive checked and he doesn't .
