When to go to A&E for ankle?

I fell on my ankle yesterday when it completely gave way, as it has done before- but it has been agony since. I'm hypermobile so it tends to collapse once or twice a month very suddenly. I've never had this looked at. I can just about walk on it, and about an hour ago, I iced again it when sat next to DH on the sofa, and it's turned purple/black- but I can walk with it flat now, although it's still very sore. Would you ride it out or go to A&E in the morning? (Our minor injuries has no xray). I don't want to waste NHS resources if I can just about cope!

I have done this 3 times. They looked worse than yours (not bragging). All along the top and bottom of my foot were black with bruising. So painful.

I went to A & E for the first one, no fractures, but badly torn ligaments. Took ages to heal. Next one I just used tuba grip, third one went to A & E again as I thought it was broken as I heard a snap noise and puked, but it was just ligaments again.

It will take at least 2 weeks before you can walk properly.

Hope it's just a bad sprain and you are home soon. I found Cake and Chocolate helped. Grin
