Is this picture of a person any good for a 2.8 year old?

As title suggests. DD is 2.8. I was quite impressed but have nothing to base it on other than the old 'self portrait' tea towels we used to do at primary school.

Just to add - I don't think she's a genius but she has other difficulties so this made me feel quite proud.

Developmentally it is quite advance. I studied and work in childcare. You have a right to feel proud perhaps she is going to be artistic.

fblake · 23/03/2019 20:07

That's such an adorable picture and really good!

sakura06 · 23/03/2019 20:14

I think it's really good.

Agree that seems advanced for her age! Smile DD is 2.10 and mainly just scribbles still. If you suggest drawing a person she might do a circle for a face and some dots to represent eyes and a nose but they probably won't be in the right place Grin

Mysterian · 23/03/2019 20:22

Most of it is average for the age, but right eye(?) is circled with good control and the zig zag hair is very consistent in hight and width. She can handle a pen well. Well done her.

LazariaMoon · 23/03/2019 20:26

My DD is 3 and couldn't draw that Wink

TaMereAPoilDevantPrisu · 23/03/2019 20:54

Bollocks is it mostly average for the age. It's very good.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 23/03/2019 20:57

It's better than my DS can do at 4, I'll tell you that!

Sillybonkers · 23/03/2019 20:58

It’s very good!

riffleraffle · 23/03/2019 21:08

Be proud, that’s very impressive for that age, the detail is fantastic.

EnidButton · 23/03/2019 21:42

It's good! A lot of first people drawings have the eyes going off the face and just two sticks where the body should be. I'm impressed with her body drawing and the zig zag hair.

PodgeBod · 23/03/2019 21:46

I think it's really good. My 2 1/2 year old just scribbles and I've only just taught my 4 year old to draw a basic person- without help she just scribbles as well (but she has never really liked drawing)

DrWhy · 23/03/2019 21:52

That looks very impressive to me. My 2.5 year old draws straight lines, circles and scribbles 99% of the time. He has produced that occasional ‘sheep’ which is a circle with short lines sticking out of it all over and longer lines (a random number) for legs. He can’t draw a face let alone a person!

keepingbees · 23/03/2019 22:18

@TapasForTwo not quite sure why you picked my comment out, I said it's good the same as everyone else. I'm just comparing it to my own children's who drew like that from around 2, but we are a family of artists and my children are very good at drawing. Op's child will probably be artistic too

fruitbastille · 23/03/2019 22:22

Way better than average.

GroggyLegs · 23/03/2019 22:59

My 3 yo is yet to draw a circle, so I think it's excellent.

I blame his left handedness for everything

Rainatnight · 23/03/2019 23:05

It's excellent for her age. My DD is exactly the same age and my most recent observation on her drawing was that her scribbles were in same way becoming more 'careful' Grin

Rainatnight · 23/03/2019 23:05

SOME way, sorry

Hollowvictory · 23/03/2019 23:06

Amazing. Huge talent.

Tinty · 23/03/2019 23:11

I went to a playgroup with ds2 and his little friend drew a picture like that at about 2 and a half. I thought it was fantastic. All the other dcs just scribbled. Both of her parents were Artists.

I think you may have a mini Artist on your hands.

MsMustDoBetter · 23/03/2019 23:12

It depends, if this is pfb I'd say "meh", but if the youngest of six I'd say "genius".

(Lighthearted).

Poppylizzyrose · 23/03/2019 23:13

Impressed! Hope my dd can draw like that, I’m going to get her practising Tomos! (She’s nearly 4 months think I’m bit keen 😂)

Thesearmsofmine · 23/03/2019 23:18

It’s very good for her age, from my time working with toddlers not many were drawing people at 2. My youngest is almost 3 and can’t draw people.

dontcallmelen · 23/03/2019 23:26

It’s really very good, lots of detail.

CarpeVitam · 23/03/2019 23:30

I think that's lovely OP, be proud of your LO x
