We are thinking about going on holiday around July time somewhere in the Uk when our DS will be around 6 months old.

From your experience what type of place I would be best?

How long would you go for ? 5 days? A week?
How long would you travel for?

We were thinking about Dorset but that would mean around 5 hours travelling which I think might be tricky with a 6 month old?

Ai resort
Lay flat lightweight buggy baby can sleep in.
Directly on beach so you can pop back to room easily
Big wide brimmed hat
Blow up Bobby ring for pool
Uv tent
Blow up galt ring for tent
Been there - was great - enjoy!

Center parcs! Not particularly adventurous but go mid week for 4 nights before the school’s break up & it’s still reasonably priced.

It’s so geared up for young children - they win awards for it every year. Great pool, high chairs everywhere, activities for all, well equipped accommodation.

Our DC are 6 & 4 & we’ve been twice every year since youngest was born. Now they are older and easy to move around we are going abroad more and CP less.

I've done it Grin kept the travelling a bit shorter, 3 hours. Had 1 long break in the middle. Timed it around naps/feeds.

Rented a holiday cottage which was spacious and open plan with a spare bedroom. Fairly baby proof as a new build and no "clutter". Did meal planning ahead of time and brought dry/store cupboard food with us. Did a quick shop once we got there.

Activities we planned a couple of ideas. Swimming was fun. A couple of nice walks. Local soft play.

Bedtime routine took a bit of a hit as the place didn't have blackout blinds and it was summer, so light in the evenings. All ok, DH and I took turns sitting with DC to calm him and persuade him to sleep etc. I was just disappointed not to have much of an evening with DH.

Overall I'd say do able and fun, with a lot of prep and planning ahead of time, and then once there very low expectations of what's achievable!

Go somewhere catered, or if SC, take pre-made stuff to reheat or ready meals, otherwise it's just same shit, different location.

Choose somewhere that has a separate bedroom/living area so you don't have to sit in silence in the dark after bedtime.

I like the Luxury Family Hotels chain but they're not cheap!

Another vote for center parcs. We took DD at 11 weeks, have booked again for May. They could not have made it any easier to holiday with a baby. Absolutely loved it.

We just went for a swim, had lunch out then a walk and plenty chill time.
