Best approach for relative with anxiety?

I’m not sure whether to be sympathetic and go along with some situations, or whether it makes it worse. What I mean is, I think I’ve read that for OCD, if you ‘pander’ to it then it really doesn’t help. I don’t know if anxiety is like that or not?

For example, if relative is phoning me in a state because she thinks loved one is dead on the floor because she can’t get hold of them, should I be trying to get hold of this person and report back that they’re ok, or should I say ‘I’m sure they’re fine...’.
(No reason to suspect loved one is ill or suicidal for example.)

Hopeful bump. If anyone can make sense of which person is which?!

My husband is very understanding and supportive of me but will not in any way reinforce my anxieties or compulsions (OCD). He will be kind but just matter of fact and not indulge me in any way. This sort of approach helps me whereas agreeing with me would probably make me see my worries etc as justified and strengthen my rituals and various worries, if that makes any sense?

I am sure that different approaches work for different people but I don't see that enabling the behaviour will lead to a positive outcome.
