What are the best vegan cheeses?

I'm not currently vegan or even vegetarian but I'm trying to really reduce the amount of animal products I eat and hopefully cut them out all together in time.

I've only tried one vegan cheese so far and that was the Violife shreds. It melted beautifully but tasted exactly as it smelled. Very sweet and coconutty. I felt as though I'd sprinkled sugar in my pasta. I want to try another but I really want to avoid another sweet cheese.
I'm not a cheese fanatic but enjoy it on a few things that I'm reluctant to give up. I'd like a nice cream cheese alternative for crackers and one for melting over pasta. Any recommendations would be appreciated. TIA

Mozzarisella is excellent on pizza. Their classic mozzarella the one they use at Pizza Express and Zizzi in their vegan pizzas. I bulk order it through a local health food shop, but think you can get it on amazon too. It’s not cheap but well worth it- it’s the only palatable one I have found. It’s for my DS, but DHbwndni have both eaten it on pizza and it’s actually nice.

There is a recipe for pqrmesan which is lovely using nutitional yeast and toasted sesame then whizzing it to a powdery consistency.

I’m not in the UK so can’t comment on brands. But if your not currently vegan, maybe a bit of a go between for now would be to find some more ethically produced cheese? Are there any smaller companies that make small amounts of cheese and maybe sell direct from their farm or some such? Again I’m not in the UK so places that I know of aren’t going to be of any use to you!

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/02/11/uks-first-vegan-cheese-monger-misleading-customers-dairy-industry/

is an article about La Fauxmagerie, a vegan 'cheese' shop in London. Might be worth looking at.

For cream cheese, I don’t mind the Oatly.

I agree about cheeses though! We’ve used Daiya grated cheese for dairy-allergic DS and he at least eats it.
