Tips for legoland?

I am SO excited, taking Ds for his birthday this weekend.

I need a plan but because we haven’t been before I don’t know where to start.

Any advice / hints / tips?!

Take coats, bottled water and snacks/food. There's a right and wrong way to go round. The view when you just get in is stunning.

Arrive at opening time, take a packed lunch and store it in the lockers by the entrance and come back to eat. The food available is crap and expensive. Leave at least 30 mins before it closes or you spend 45 mins sat in the car park just waiting to move towards the exit.
Wear very comfortable shoes/trainers. It’s a lot of walking. Be prepared for long queues for the most popular rides and you will get wet on the flume & Viking river ride- have fun. Sad DC now too old, we had a few great trips there.

Ooh thank you!

What is the ‘right’ way round MikeUniformMike?!

We are going on a coach trip and so I sadly can’t control arrival / departures, but I will def take your advice on the picnic front Flowers

Go to the furthest point away from the entrance first and work back towards it.

strawberrylollipop · 21/03/2019 21:43

Download the Legoland app - it has ride waiting times on there :-)
Also has some discount vouchers too

I second taking a packed lunch / some drinks too!

thenewzealandstory · 21/03/2019 21:44

Duplo Valley first. Most people rush straight to the big rides.
We love Legoland! Have a great time!

I too was going to say, arrive before it opens, and when you get in, walk to the far side, then start working your way back. You will hit the crowds later, but you'l at least have some of the day without.

MikeUniformMike · 21/03/2019 21:52

Anti-clockwise (I think) - everyone will be going the right way.
Definitely wear comfortable shoes. If you have cagoules, take them.
I've been several times and love it, but went once with no coats. DCs were cold and whiny.
Hope you get nice weather.

What we used to do:
Choose either dragon ride or Submarine ride to rush down to first and get on ahead of queues. Then work backwards from there.

Spend the middle part of the day looking round miniland or going on rides like the carousel where lots of people go on and once and aren't too popular.
Also watch the show at the lighthouse at 1pm/2pm showing (check what times it's on) arrive about half an hour early and eat lunch while waiting.
if you want to eat do the eat all you want to pizza place near the light house. I think it's cheaper if you go in after 3.
Splashlanding's fun, but probably going to be too cold at this time of year.

How old is he?
Would also recommend eating picnic whilst watching the pirate show. Warm clothes very important (gloves too).

Definitely watch the pirate show at the lighthouse.
The submarine ride is really good so maybe head there first to beat the crowds. I’ve been there several times on a Saturday and apart from the submarine ride I’ve not normally queued for long

mummmy2017 · 21/03/2019 22:26

Take sandwiches, and drinks, eat as you que, expect to que for an hour plus for each ride, sub rides was longer than the over head cars, dragon ride was a long time ...
The water ride was short questions long ride, we just kept going on it..

You get to shoot water pistol at people on the ride

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 21/03/2019 22:30

Have you got vouchers? Don’t pay full price, it’s extortionate. Kellogg’s cereal boxes always have vouchers on them.

Buy the best Q-bot you can afford so you don’t spend half the day standing in queues.

Deffo take a packed lunch, I second the point about the food being expensive and crap. We bought two donuts and a bottle of water and it came to nearly £15.

Ricekrispie22 · 22/03/2019 05:31

Some of the rides have Lego to play with along the way; Sky Riders even has an area where kids can sit and watch various Lego films, while you stay in the queue (although when it is really busy, it takes you out of view, so not totally ideal). There’s nothing like producing a few sweets or a little toy mid-queue to stop fed up kids from complaining.
The main shop gets jam-packed at closing time. If you can, buy earlier in the day.
The usual advice is to leave the wet rides until the end of the day so that you don’t have to walk around wet and cold. However, because everyone does this, that’s when the rides are usually busier. Consider taking spare clothing so you can go on them earlier and then get changed, use one of the family drier cubicles (costs £2), or bring waterproofs. You may be at risk of being unexpectedly squirted or sprayed on the Heartlake City Express train and at the live harbour shows – depending where you sit.
We watched a puppet fairytale show at Duplo Valley, which my toddler loved and his big brother and sister enjoyed although they pretended it was too young for them. We also saw the Pirates of Skeleton Bay show, which was absolutely brilliant, featuring pirates somersaulting and acrobatting on dry land and into the water. It was a good chance to sit down after being on our feet all day. When the shows are on is also a good time to get onto nearby rides, when they are quieter.
The toilets are quite well maintained, but towards the end of the day there can be a distinct lack of toilet roll. I recommend coming prepared with tissues.
Just a little thing, but unlike most lockers at swimming pools etc. the lockers in Legoland do not refund your coins as you might expect, so beware. There are notices which state this but not everyone reads notices.
