How much to change an old boiler over to a Combi one?

Has anyone does this recently?

Four bed house, existing boiler is about 20 years old, want to put a Combi in before we start any refurb.

I’ve budgeted 3k but I’m panicking I’m way off now?

We just had ours replaced with a 40kw Combi that has a 10yr guarantee for £2300 all in.

Yes £3k should be fine, it might depend on how much new pipework etc you need though as that's fiddly. We had ours done and I miss the airing cupboard but our gas bills are lower.

Oh phew for some reason I started thinking it might be twice that. Thank you.

Ours is a decent Worcester combi for 4 bed house, cost £2300 as well a few months ago

MadauntofA · 20/03/2019 21:30

We were quoted £4000 by B gas though

RJnomore1 · 20/03/2019 21:32

My friend said hers was £5k from British Gas but they did interest free instalments. I think they’re a lot more than local companies.

We've just replaced our very very old Potterton LPG boiler for a Worcester combi - it was around £3.5k but that included getting rid of the cold water header tank and immersion, plus it's an LPG one.

RJnomore1 · 20/03/2019 21:37

Sorry for being dim butvwhats LPG?

We're rural and not on mains gas, so we have to bulk buy LPG and keep it in a 1200 litre tank in the garden.

Makes everything to do with heating a ton more expensive basically!

If you're on mains gas the boiler will be at least £800 cheaper.

Comefromaway · 20/03/2019 22:05

LPG is liquified petroleum gas for those not connected to the mains.

RJnomore1 · 20/03/2019 22:19

Ah thank you. Yes it’s mains gas.
