I need to book a smear test

I promised myself I would phone up and make the appointment today but I just keep putting it off and putting it off!

I've already posted about this recently but long story short I have only had one and it was horrible and painful and I can't bring myself to phone again.

I don't want sympathy this time though, I just want someone to give me a kick up the arse so I will get it booked before my surgery closes at 6!

I get really anxious beforehand walk into the room saying how I don't like smears, my cervix is on an angle and highlight this, talk constantly, have to cling to the couch, but the relief afterwards is incredible as as Unicorn highlights this is vital and we need to talk about the anxiety and the importance of these tests.

Well done for opening up with your sister and getting a plan in place. Enjoy the restaurant afterwards!

PurpleUnicorns I really am sorry you’re faced with this and hope you sharing that leads to people reading booking their smear test Flowers

OP-I booked a private one recently as I knew my three year appt would be due mid school term and I wanted it done and out of the way. It cost £105 and results took a week. The GP that did it was very kind and gentle, as was the last NHS nurse that did mine almost three years ago. My first few smear tests were more clinical and judgemental in comparison to recent ones and I think there has been a change in how they are conducted to encourage more women to get them done.
