I have fucked up my knee. No idea how I have done it. I was doing fine as long as I didn't move it, but its now at the point where if I am lying down with my legs out, its hurts, bending hurts.

I live in a second floor flat with no lift.

We also live over 2 miles away from DS' school, which involves either walking or cycling, there is a good bus route but that costs a fortune.

I do have a doctors appointment on Monday, so I just really need to get through till then.

Its really starting to affect my mental health not being able to do much, my partner has taken on as much as he can do.

My knee isn't swollen, I have done cold compressors, hot compressors and a large amount of pain killers, plus gels and creams. I can put weight on it, but bending hurts

Hopefully that is everything, if someone could suggest something else, just to get me through till Monday I would be very greatful

Personally I'd go to A&E and get an x Ray.

Sorry, just realised I missed a massive bit out, I have been dealing with it for over a week now, it did actually get better and its been over the last 2 days that it has been really fucked

Personally I'd go to A&E and get an x Ray.

I really can't justify going to A&E for a bad knee

You need to rest and elevate it

Done the rest bit, how does elevating help?

It reduces the swelling.

Quoting medical jargon “First, the legs need to be elevated above the level of the heart, in order to lower the hydrostatic pressure in the capillary, which is the driving force for reabsorption of the accumulated interstitial fluid”. Basically though keep your recovering limb above your heart!

What are the muscles above/below the knee like ? Are they tensed? Massage them.
Take anti- inflammatories to reduce internal swelling.
Keep it moving, gently.
