...for after school?

I may be relying too heavily on biscuits Blush Fruit is mostly a non-starter. So, quick & easy alternatives, anyone? Pretty please?

Cheese and crackers, crumpets, boiled eggs.

Torvi · 19/03/2019 16:59

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 19/03/2019 17:01

cheese and crackers

Sun dried tomatoes
Pickled gherkins
Pepparami

CharlottesInterWeb · 19/03/2019 17:06

Rice cakes or Corn cakes with Houmus
Flavoured rice cakes (eg. Snack-a-Jack's)
Cheddar thins biscuits
Cheese twists (sometimes homemade, sometimes shop bought)

And lots more less healthy options.... Blush

I do find that bringing tea forward helps with the ravenous raiding of the kitchen after school.

Great suggestions, thank you. We can’t really eat much before 6/6.30pm most nights (unless the kids eat separately to the adults but I’m not keen on that unless unavoidable) so a decent snack is a necessity usually.

Crumpets!

Cheese & crackers

GVmama · 19/03/2019 19:15

Peanut butter on toast/ crackers/ oatcakes/ etc
Cheese as above
Boiled eggs
Almonds, cashews etc
Crudités with dips

If we're eating later I sometimes do them a little picky plate with carrot batons, cucumber slices, grated cheese, some sort of dip, and oatcakes/ toasted pitta pieces/ breadsticks. It's filling and savoury, gives enough energy to get them through swimming/ trampolining and on to dinner time.

Neptunesgiraffe · 19/03/2019 19:19

Most of the above, and more recently Scotch Eggs or just hard Boiled eggs that I made earlier and are in the fridge. Also cheese and crackers, cheese or ham sandwich /toasted sandwich/ cheese on toast. He also has tonnes of fruit with the above.

Can you tell I have a small child who is going through a growth spurt and is hungry all the time??

VladmirsPoutine · 19/03/2019 19:25

Cinnamon and raison bagels!

EffYouSeeKaye · 19/03/2019 19:34

God I’m staving now Grin Why did I ever bother with biscuits? All of these sound amazing.

Apple and peanut butter are a hit here. Also celery with peanut butter and raisins in (although that mainly gets licked).

Rice cakes and cream cheese.

Lump of cheese with tomato.

Peanut butter crackers.

BoogleMcGroogle · 19/03/2019 19:40

We do:
Cheese sticks
Oatcakes
Little hummus snap pots
Philadelphia dippers
PB ( and sometimes J) sandwich
The odd cold sausage

Plus a piece of fruit.

I don't snack (not sanctimonious just never got into the habit due to years of food poverty) but since I have been earning a little more and can afford the odd 'luxury' I like thinly spread anchovy paste on buttered toast with a bit of pepper on. A tube lasts for ever and is really cheap in my local 'world food shop'.
