Predicament

We have to move house (renting and landlord selling) before the end of July. We wanted to move anyway but we are having trouble deciding where exactly we should move to. We are either going to stay in the same area where we are now, which is urban/suburban or move semi rural to a large village. My dp is reluctant to move semi rural due to commute taking possibly over an hour but it would be better for my dd1 (7) as her dad lives nearby. However dd2 (2yr 9mo) is at a good childminder and we'd have to move her, which isn't ideal. We have a good social network where we live now and lots of amenities, whereas if we live semi rural we wouldn't really know anyone. However it'd be better for all our health as where we live now has very high pollution levels and my dd1's chest is suffering. I would like the peacefulness of semi rural but would also miss my friends.
Dd1 is also under paeds here and would need to be transferred to a new consultant etc.
We are torn! I really don't know what to do for best. Wwyd?!

Also a positive for semi rural is smaller schools and class sizes as dd1vhas high functioning autism and struggles with how busy her school is.

How much over the hour would DP's commute be? And is that door to door?

What are the facilities in the semi rural area, eg: local shops and supermarkets, activities for the children, quality and frequencies of various transport links. Also are you able to research dentists and GP's in the area (reviews online?).

Sorry only just seen this reply! Dp's commute will bepretty much an hour we think most days we think.
Amenities are good in the town/village and it has two train stations, so that's another positive.
I've joined a couple of Facebook groups for the local area to get a bit more insight as well.

An hour commute door to door isn't bad - especially if the service is reliable and regular and he can, hopefully, get a seat and read, listen to music etc. Good he'd have two stations. My travel used to be more and split train & tube often standing all the way. I used to work from home occasionally too which made life easier and used that day as my long day so start early finish later as there was no traveling that day. Hope it works out for you all.
