Can you use the loo in your house if arrested

So random I know..... Watching 24hrs in police custody & wondering with all the drugs they have now found. If one of them had asked to use the loo they potentially could have got rid of loads. Are you allowed to use your own loo. Imagine their stomach would fall out their arse when the police arrived with everything they found.

I think they need a police person in there with them. I've never been arrested though Grin

Sunshineinwinter · 18/03/2019 21:39

You can but they can be present same gender officer to ensure you are not trying to get rid of evidence

Love51 · 18/03/2019 21:41

I didn't think they HAVE to let you go to the toilet, but if they don't think you are a risk, they might be kind.

reversablesequin · 18/03/2019 21:43

That can't be much fun for the officer accompanying them. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Yes, people are allowed to use the loo. An officer will be with them though.

Catscratchclub · 18/03/2019 21:48

I can’t be arsed to name change, but I was arrested when I was pregnant (it’s a long, shitty story....) and the officers were LOVELY to me. I wasn’t handcuffed or anything like that, and they let me goto the loo by myself before we left to goto the station, but they stood at bottom of the stairs. There was no risk of me getting rid of evidence though and my ex partner was a police officer that they knew. I don’t know if that changes things.

I think they base it on how likely you are to do a runner / be abusive, and it was quite clear I wasn’t going to do either.

S1naidSucks · 18/03/2019 21:52

I’ve irritable bowel and for the sake of safety to their car seats, they’d need to let me use the toilet, for about an hour. 😳

I wouldn’t care what gender they are, so long as they were the same sex as me.

@Catscratchclub thanks for sharing that. Hope all is ok now. I always need the loo when nervous so good to know incase my house ever raided Grin.

@S1naidSucks this is totally my thinking. Not that I ever plan to be arrested but I would literally shit myself.

I am a nervous wee-er too! They kept giving me water to drink and because I was trying not to cry i kept drinking it to distract myself. This, on top of being pregnant, meant I needed the loo ALOT!

reversablesequin · 18/03/2019 22:10

Oh @Catscratchclub this would be me. And a dry throat. Pelvic floor not being what it was & Ibs I always need a loo. Hope it's all in the past & you & baby ok. I plan journies round the loo. Now I'm planning my arrest round the loo Smile.

Grin Ds is 7 now, it was a long time ago - I caught my ex cheating with escorts and I sent the booking emails to his parents, his work place and put it on his fb profile..... I very much wasn’t thinking straight at the time and as he was a police officer, they sort of had to arrest me for harassment. It’s not something I would do again in a hurry, but they were all genuinely lovely to me. I’m glad it’s in the past now, my bladders probably worse after child birth Grin

reversablesequin · 18/03/2019 22:49

@Catscratchclub wow! Sounds like it was worth it. Really hope it was. Thanks

I had a friend that was accused of being a drug dealer by some people who didn’t like her (long story). She was allowed to use her bathroom but the policewoman had to go in with her.
