It’s a type of Autism, the spectrum is massive so to say they will be like “this” or “that” would likely be inaccurate.
All I would say is be patient if they don’t engage or have very black and white views. There is nothing wrong with people who have aspergers, they just think differently (and if you ask me logically)

Otherwise known as high functioning autism. Autism is a catch-all word to describe many different developmental disorders of the brain as yet unclassified by science but which generally give the affected individual difficulty in processing incoming sensory information. Other areas affected by autism include movement and co-ordination, thermal regulation, sleep and digestion. There is a high co-morbid with other neurological disorders such as ADHD/ADD, epilepsy and Tourettes Syndrome.

This is excellent for understandingthe idea of the spectrum

And the video on this page has a good description of what aspergers is

When my ds was diagnosed with autism, I was told that as he had had speech delay it was autism, had he not it would have been Asperger's.

However my understanding now is that (in the UK at least) they no longer make the distinction and the diagnosis is simply of autism.

The spectrum seems quite wide in Aspergers so what some experience, others have none of the same symptoms.

My partner has Aspergers and copes very well. He's very high functioning and has none of the touch and sense issues a lot deal with. He does however struggle with bad digestive issues and social problems but comes across as slightly odd.

I looked at many different websites when he told me about his diagnosis and I really struggled to find anything that helped much. I hope you have better luck finding info to help you. Every 'expert' seems to have a different opinion and it's not much help for those of us that are trying to understand someone we love and why they are how they are.
