Horrendous pain in my temple when I sneeze - a bit concerned.

Posting in Chat for traffic.
I'm full of cough and cold atm, and feeling under the weather with whatever virus this is...usually I just get on with it but, twice this evening I've sneezed and got a dreadful pain in my right temple which has hung around for a while afterward, not really completely disappearing but, lessening. I'm a bit worried, never had anything quite like this before. Any advice? Has anyone else had this happen to them? I'm really not a pop to the doctor type of person and try not to, if I'm honest so, any help here would be appreciated.

What sort of pain? Sharp/ burning etc? I'm no doctor mind :)

It's sharp and kind of radiates out and down a bit.

How old are you btw? Female?
I am thinking about trigeminal neuralgia. It is one of the few sorts of pain that makes me cry. It's proper serious pain. Things like screeching, chewing etc can set it all off. I too had a residual pain with it, a harassing electric shock followed by a dull ache.

It's not that common, so probably pretty unlikely, but if anything else sets the pain off, and you really haven't felt a pain like that before, get yourself to GP pronto. I thought I was going to die when I had it in the summer...sneering and wiping eyes and nose don't mix with TN.

Like I said, unlikely, but worth knowing for the future. I have no medical training at all, this just occurred to me. Probably a much nicer explanation around.

I'm 55 and yes, female. I don't ever recall having it before. And yes, a dull ache which seems to now be down into my cheekbone. Might have to see the doctor tomorrow. Thank you domton, I appreciate your help.

Most common in menopausal women.

No worries. Like I say, unlikely, but it could be atypical which can lead on to the standard form..very debilitating and best caught early.

Ah! The good old menopause!

Thanks again Thanks

Any news? X

No news :) It only happened one more time and not nearly as bad as when I posted. Thank you for answering me, though Thanks.
