My toddler was just choking

Properly choking - this is not a drill type of proper choking. She went rigid and silent and I had her over my knees and hitting her on her back like you’re supposed. I was counting and when I got to 120 I was going to send my six year old to bang on the neighbours flat to tell them to call an ambulance. Thankfully this huge piece of food flew out of her mouth and she started crying. It felt like forever!

Oh OP that is terrifying, choking is my biggest fear. Well done for reacting correctly and dislodging it.

Well done for staying so calm!

I work with children and this has happened to me twice now. It's terrifying but I was always scared afterwards. I'm good in a crisis and then after I'm a wreck!

My sister found my niece almost blue and choking on a toy and ran next door because a trainee nurse lived there. They screamed and then slammed the door in her face. My sister called an ambulance and the operator talked her through how to get it out. Luckily she managed to cough it up but could have been so much worse.
