Blinds - too much choice! Help!

Currently choosing blinds for new house (20 years old so fairly modern, some very large windows).
I've noticed a lot of linear cut roller blinds in new houses locally recently and liked the look of them from the outside. It's either that or wooden/pvc but I'm worried about the dust on the latter!

I've had a local supplier recommended and he left me with lots of brochures full of samples to look at for a few days. Problem is joe I'm stuck for choice! Plain or patterned? Coloured or neutral? If I got something more colourful for a playroom would it look odd from the front of the house being different from the others?!

A very trivial problem I know but please help with these decisions I have to make in the next 24 hours!

I would go for plain personally in a neutral colour so if you change your decor you won’t have to change the blinds.

Yeah am thinking that might be best!

Neutral won't date but if you don't want cream or off white then pumice is a nice colour www.blinds-2go.co.uk/perfect-fit-venetians/4772/linear-pumice.html

We went for wooden shutter type blinds for ease. The company came and fitted them on, we love them. Wasn’t keen on any kind of fabric, it’s too fussy.
We have a cleaner so the dust isn’t a problem for us Grin

Not keen on Venetians though - lots of big windows in this house so the dust would drive me crazy (plus I'm asthmatic so want to avoid dust as much as poss). Think I'll be choosing roller but wondered if every window should look the same from the outside??

Are these the linear blinds you mean? I fancied these, but you wouldn't be able to stop people seeing in. We got venetian blinds instead. They are a bugger to dust though

Oh go for the colours neutral is so
Boring.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 16/03/2019 14:14

You can have colour in other ways though, keep your carpet and blinds neutral so it doesn’t limit you in future.
Personally I find patterned blinds/curtains a bit dated.

ginyogarepeat · 16/03/2019 16:41

@Ruth2009 no, sorry I meant linear cut rollers, ie straight line rather than a scallop edging for example.

There's plenty of colour added by things like throws, cushions, rugs, bedclothes, curtains etc so I am leaning towards neutral

Aren't they pretty much the same on the reverse though, in that the pattern/colour is on the inside and outside is thermal/blackout lining or whatever, so just plain? So it doesn't matter if your playroom blind is colourful and the others not? Or is the company doing yours different and have the pattern or colour on both sides..?

I've just ordered blinds for windows on the east facing aspect of my house, as I get dazzled when the sun rises when it's not obscured by flipping rain clouds. I had exactly the same overwhelmed-by-choice issue that you do!
