I don’t bank with them but they own TSB who I do bank with.
The number doesn’t match the Santander number on the website.

Also I don’t have that sort of money in my account Unless this is a credit card.
I don’t have a Santander CC.

One very simple rule if something seems fishy - ignore the text or email, or put the phone down and then Google their number on your own phone and call them yourself to verify.

If you aren't sure about a website, use Google Chrome and make sure you see the lock symbol in the website link/URL bar. All major companies will have this a lock symbol, or maybe a green tick, or the word secure.

A bank will always recommend this and will never penalise you for taking safety precautions.

I keep getting emails from "Amazon", - the one today was regarding purchase of "Amazon Platinum" for 50 odd quid. To cancel it follow the link etc. The link takes you to an exact copy of the Amazon login page on a secure connection. These scams make me disproportionately ragey.

Always check the 'sender' full email address. Usually you'll spot these are from [email protected] or something stupid.

Anyone can send an email with the name "Amazon", but only addresses that have @amazon.com will be legit. Be wary of amazon.email.com/amazon.security.com etc, as it's the bit before the .com thats the true domain.
