Electric breast pump - is it worth it?

I have a tomee tipee Hand pump but can’t get much off it.
Ds 6 weeks is absolutely terrible at night and is feeding a lot late at night and again in the early hours.
I’m wondering if an electric pump would be worth a go if it would help me get some more milk so dh could give a bottle as I’m exhausted and really struggling with the lack of sleep.

Any thoughts/recommendations/advice?
Thanks

Yes the electric ones are much better than the manual ones. I was the same, I thought a manual one would be fine but I ended up buying an electric one before DD was 2 weeks old. I have the medala which is good. My only issue with it has been that sometimes milk gets into the tubing which makes it very hard to clean. That may be because I had a sudden letdown and was using the pump on too high a setting though! I think you can get some others that are closed systems though.

I did the same and thought I would do ok with a manual TT one, soon bought a medela swing and got 7oz off each side really quickly.

I didn’t get on with mine but think I’m just crap at expressing. I did get on really well with a HaaKaa pump though, you just stick it on the other boob when feeding and it fills up, no action needed.

Yes! Buy the Medela Swing, it's loads better than any manual pump and was a lifesaver when DS was the same age as yours and a terrible sleeper.

I have the Lansinoh 2 in 1 double electric Brest pump, I highly recommend it! It’s helped save my supply a few times since DD was born.

I also recommend getting a breast pump bra so you don’t have to hold them in place.

Yes! I have a Philips Avent and I love it. I tried the Medela but found it really uncomfortable.

The Philips Avent is a closed system (i.e. milk can't get sucked up in to the pipes) so it's fine to use second hand. However, Facebook don't allow selling of breast pumps any more. 🙄 So it might be a case of asking around if anyone has one to sell.

My medela double swing was much much better than the tt hand pump, however I heard rave reviews about the hakaa, my mn antenatal group went mad for it and those using it loved it, it may be worth a try before shelling out for an electric? My DD was a bottle refuser so the damned thing got used about 3 times and is now gathering dust Hmm going to try baby 2 on ebf as well as just bfing but I'm not holding out much hope!

Wow it looks like medela is the favourite.
I have had lots of problems with latch and thrush and mastitis as well as the non sleeping/feeding all night so will try anything!
Thanks
