Ingrown hair now hard lump - what can I do?

Last week I found I had an ingrown hair in a very sensitive place down below. It was a sore lump, like a spot.

I managed to squeeze a small amount of gunk out and I thought the hair was released. Now it’s turned into a hard lump, no longer sore really but I think the hair may still be trapped. I can’t see the area so it’s hard to tell.

It’s definitely from an ingrown hair and not an STD or anything (had a similar one looked at by a doctor years ago, and don’t have any sex these days 😂).

Just need to get the hair out somehow, but difficult in such a sensitive place that I can’t see. Any tips?

Try a hot bath OP, often helps to release a boil.

Hot wet flannel to draw it out.

Hot bath, or if you don’t have a bath, a hot flannel on the affected area.

Could try some magnesium sulphate paste, might draw out whatever is lurking in there?

Keep messing around with it. I find that squeezing and proding causes fresh pus to be released (eventually) and then you can have a proper go!

Thanks everyone, will try a hot bath tomorrow and see how that goes - I really don’t know if it’s still in there but I think something must be or it would have gone down.

Don't mess with it! Hot flannel or paste if painful, otherwise let it happen naturally.

Messing with it could lead to hidradenitis as the pus and infection if there is any will go deeper into the skin. Trust me, not a condition you want to develop, esp in groin area!

Get thee to the sporner corner.

Magnesium sulphate paste! Draws them out.
