Can anyone recommend me a vacuum cleaner?

I have a Henry but I think he is on his last legs. I would like something smaller and lighter but needs to be at least as powerful. I live somewhere with mostly wooden floors, lots of awkward spaces, high ceilings, lots of spiders, two cats and a dog. Rather not go Dyson because Brexit! Grin Can you recommend (or not) yours? Thank you!

Shark Shark Shark!

I'm a professional domestic housekeeper and I've used every hoover known to man

My absolute #1 favourite are the LiftAway models by Shark. I bloody love em!

My next fave would be Dyson. Really like the cordless ones. Just wish the battery lasted longer.

My absolute worst is, and I know I'm going against the grain here, but... any Miele hoover. I f**king hate them! Overly heavy, noisy, cumbersome, faffy and not that great in suction. I don't get why anyone rates them when there's far better on the market.

I have a client who has both a Miele and Dyson cordless, but insists I only use the Miele as he thinks it's better, because for some weird reason Miele seems to be some kind of designer label when it comes to the wealthy and their hoovers. Their Dyson is just for the family to use for quick hoover ups of crumbs that the kids drop, apparently. I could cry dragging that useless Miele lump of crap around while the Dyson just sits looking at me, taunting me with its superior suction and lightweight convenience! Sad

Ooooh, so excited to reply to this thread 😂 I posted a similar thread last week on chat and purchased my Shark Liftaway yesterday- brilliant! Different models have different sized dust compartments so in response to a PP, maybe they could have done with the larger volume one? Personally I like the fact that If its smaller you will empty it more often. I had no problem doing my downstairs (quite a large area) in one go.
It’s very manoeuvrable, quieter then by last Dyson and fantastically easy to detach bits and pieces for stairs etc
Curry’s were price matching Amazon at £239

I tried and tested a load because I couldn’t bring myself to buy another Dyson. But none of them were a patch on the Dyson cordless I had so I’ve now upgraded to the V8 and I love it more than anything else in my house. I use it at least twice a day and it’s amazing

Meile cat and dog is amazing. When I managed to break mine I opted to get a vax because I wanted to shampoo the carpets and it has hardly any power.
