What do I do? She’s got a red mark now. I must have dropped it twelve inches from her face when she was in her Moses basket asleep.

She moved when it happened but stayed asleep

When dd was 3 days old, ds came running round the corner, tripped and landed arms outstretched on her tummy as she was safely (or so we thought) strapped into her car seat beside us. SHe was fine, although we did go to the doc to check. But that was 25lb of running toddler that landed on her.

Congrats on your new baby, snuggle her one extra time and forgive yourself.

WaddIelikeapenguin · 14/03/2019 00:13

I did just drop my phone onto my head from a height so see how it would have hurt
This is both adorable & hilarious!

Wait until she rolls off a bed or similar Grin

She’s fine and looks utterly scrumptious no wonder you wanted to take a photo. Congratulations & enjoy

HennyPennyHorror · 14/03/2019 00:19

Aw...I dropped "The Contented Little Baby" book on my DDs head when she was about 3 days old. She's 14 and fine!

That book wants burning though. Utter crap!

SleepingStandingUp · 14/03/2019 00:21

Put your phone away and enjoy your baby! because OP should sit in solemn silence every second her child sleeps just staring reverentially at her??

HennyPennyHorror · 14/03/2019 00:22

Sleeping I was going to say the same! Grin "enjoying" a baby when it's asleep involves doing your own thing doesn't it!?

WarpedGalaxy · 14/03/2019 00:24

How’s your phone btw? Grin

Aw OP, she’s fine, accidents happen. And she’s gorgeous btw. I cried my eyes out when my first caught himself under his eye with a ragged fingernail, I saw a tiny little spot of blood and thought he’d bleed to death or go blind and it would all be my fault because I hadn’t put the scratch mitts on properly!

It’s like a constant state of anxiety and guilt the first few months then one day when you hear her start howling like a banshee after some almighty crash, your response will be to yell:

‘You’d better not have got blood on my new sofa and if that crash was the coffee table you’ll be buying a new one out of your pocket money!’

Butteredghost · 14/03/2019 01:28

It's happened to the best of us OP. I once read a funny post on here, the women dropped a phone on her baby's head. Then she picked up phone to google advice and dropped it on baby's head again!

clary · 14/03/2019 01:34

Aw Op this thread has really made me smile, especially you dropping the phone on your own head Grin

As others say, she will be fine. When ds2 was tiny I left him on the bed asleep (he was like, 2 months) and suddenly there was a bump, he had somehow wriggled right off the double bed! I put him on the floor after that! He was number 3 child tho so I didn't even take him to the doctor 😂

IncrediblySadToo · 14/03/2019 01:37

You’ve broken her 🥵.

I’m coming to get her immediately!

Then spend all night snuggling that gorgeous newness!!! Deep envy. She’s far too cute for words!!!

It’s a right of passage to ‘damage them’. If it had hurt you’d know all about it! Accidents happen. She’ll be fine 🌷

Graphista · 14/03/2019 01:47

Bless you. She'll be fine.

My dd was screwed basically cos I've been watching babies since I was 14 and was a nanny before I had her, other ftm were panicking at bumps and scrapes I was all "ach you fell over, jump up and tell the pavement sorry" Grin

Ex was more nervous as he'd had no experience of babies, he dropped a (sizeable) sky remote on her once and thought I'd go nuts at him, so I get home from wherever I was, it's height of summer and he's put a hat on her! When I asked him why he was ridiculously weird about it, then admitted what happened and was profoundly apologetic and "do you think I've broke her?" I pissed myself laughing at him. She was absolutely fine.

There's a great quote from movie parenthood akin to the meme posted

"If he (pfb) got a scratch we were hysterical, by the 3rd kid, you know you let 'em juggle knives"

If my (youngest sibling didn't do much babysitting etc herself) sister could have literally wrapped her eldest in cotton wool AND bubble wrap I think she would have, her 3rd has a terrifying lack of fear! Them dangling from a chandelier with a flame thrower wouldn't have surprised me!

maggienolia · 14/03/2019 14:09

DD1 got dropped from her Moses basket, fell off the sofa and rolled off the changing table before she was a year old.
She's now a teenager and hasn't suffered any ill effects apart from asking why we dropped her so much.

I dropped one of our electronic cube men blocks on the cat once. Amazing how fast a 17 year old tabby can move.

Bless you!

SandunesAndRainclouds · 14/03/2019 14:25

I did the exact same thing to my DD when she was newborn, and I’ll just leave it here that you’re also not alone in dropping the phone on your own head...

costacoffeecup · 14/03/2019 20:08

I did the same when she was less than 24 hours old! You won't have done damage, don't worry 😀

Tentativesteps133 · 14/03/2019 20:24

I (well, DH) did the same at 12 days old...off to A&E we trotted Grin where she was looked over and we were sent on our way with a head tilt smile and probably smirks behind our backs...

NCKitten · 14/03/2019 20:32

Anyone else want to drop their phone on their head now??

OP, she'll be fine I imagine!

SoyDora · 14/03/2019 20:37

Put your phone away and enjoy your baby!

🙄 there’s always one.
My baby spends a lot of time asleep on me. I’m not going to spend hours a day gazing adoringly at the top of his head. While he’s asleep I use my phone to pay bills, research holidays, read books, read the news...

fullprice · 15/03/2019 03:59

4am and my baby has woken for the umpteenth time. The phone and it’s light wakes me up and makes feeding (again) just about manageable.
You don’t have to feel bad about the fact that you were looking at your phone! I don’t think sitting in the dark feeding for hours and hours and hours makes you a better parent than one who wants to read

EdtheBear · 15/03/2019 04:28

Whoops!
Is your head and phone ok?

I'm sure baby won't remember. 13 day olds are quite resilient, one of mine landed on its head. 8 year old now and a little bit bonkers (are all 8 yos bonkers?) but survived the incident.

BTW I've recently discovered night setting on my browser ideal for not hand bright phones during night feeds.

EdtheBear · 15/03/2019 04:29

Forgot to say Congratulations xxx

Berry2020 · 09/02/2020 15:14

I did this whilst feeding my newborn son he didn't cry or flinch but I felt so so bad I cried so hard!

PotteringAlong · 09/02/2020 15:19

I’m too scared to tell DH as he’s probably more PFB than me

To be honest that’s the most concerning part of your post

PurpleCrazyHorse · 09/02/2020 15:22

Oh gosh, I bashed DD's head on the door frame when she was less than a week old. I forgot I was wider when I was carrying her Blush. She was also (fairly gently) bonked on the head with a big metal DIY tape measure by a friend's child when they came to visit her. She was probably 3 weeks by then! She's a totally normal 10yo now. It's a bit of a right of passage.

Also note, don't balance a shopping basket on the canopy of your buggy with your kid underneath. They don't take much weight before collapsing!

PurpleCrazyHorse · 09/02/2020 15:22

rite

MyHairIsSoapy · 09/02/2020 15:24

Also loving that you dropped the phone on your own head to see how much it hurt!
