Unexpected weekend to myself - what would you do with DC?

So I have an unexpected weekend all to myself DH is taking DD to see family for the weekend. We have (and still bloody are) gone through some serious sleep deprivation due to DC health (persistent cough for years not been able to get to the bottom off it). So apart from sleep what shall I do?

I have the following so far - Read, long baths, Netflix (any recommendations?).

I have seen previous threads with some fab ideas but can't find them. I'll leave my weekend in your hands wonderful mumsnetters!

afrikat that’s exactly what I’d do too! Cinema matinee alone is bliss. And cooking with wine. Brilliant

I'd go to town and treat myself to a new bath soak and body cream and choose some 'posh' nibbles. I'd go home and pamper myself then watch a film.
I also enjoy a browse in the local library so maybe i'd spend an hour there too.

Lie in, bath, lunch out, relaxed shop, coffee and cake, M&S for dinner, early night with book...

BTW, my ds had a very long lasting cough. In the end he got a chest x ray and it showed he'd collapsed part of his lung. Turns out he had very thick secretions and just couldn't cough it out. 6 weeks of antibiotics, inhalers and chest physio and then medication to thin the secretions stopped the cough, and then he had sudafed liquid every winter till he was 6.

Go for a run (I never get chance without dc). Take a book to a cafe for brunch. Go horse riding. Have an afternoon nap with clean bedsheets. Buy tapas/ snack type food and eat when I’m hungry not at family mealtimes. Light scented candles without worrying dc will knock them. Have the radio on instead of the tv. Have a lie in. Read. Go for a walk in peace.

Well they left at 9am this morning and aren't due back till 6pm tomorrow. I have gone into town and got my marks dine in and did a bit of shopping, had a coffee and just had a long bath with my book (weather is crap so I don't feel bad for not going for a walk) This is not to rub salt in wounds more of a 'I can throughly recommend this' I agreed to this with DH as long as I repaid the favour in a few weekends time.

Let's face it if we can't give each other a break we're going to loose the plot with our sleep deprived state we're in.

Hope you are all having ok weekends?

Very pleased for you OP. It sounds lovely. Bet you are missing them just a little bit though. It's nice when the weather is so bad you can totally justify not going out. Cosy on in and enjoy you lie in. SmileFlowers

Thanks @SummerHouse yep missing them but sound like they are having fun so that helps. I'm off to bed shortly and can't wait for the lie in (we all know I'll be up early as usual but one can hope) x
