Just had the mirena coil removed today after an absolutely horrible time with it.
Thinking about next steps and options as I don't think hormone based contraception suits me.
Not keen on condoms.
Anyone using the diaphragm with success?

I would try family planning clinic or whatever they are now called - far more knowledge than the average gp!

I managed to not get pregnant using the cap for five year. But they really should be inserted sober Blush so ended up with dd.

I had the copper coil, incredible pain and in the end it took surgery to remove it so swore never again.

Until then I’d been told hormonal options were a no go due to various side affects.

After the coil debacle the gynaecologist suggested I try the new Tri-Phasic pills and I’ve never looked back. I take Qlaira, which uses a naturally occurring oestrogen, and I have no side effects or issues whatsoever. For me it was life changing Smile

I got one fitted at a family planning clinic 1.5 years ago - but I did have to phone 4 clinics to find one that still did them, my GP wouldn't eitger. It was a bit of a pain as they don't hold them in stock at the clinics anymore. Having travelled over an hour to the nearest clinic that did them all I left with was a prescription for 3 diaphragms in different sizes - I had to travel back 3 weeks later for the fit test.

We had high hopes but in reality found them more instrusive than condoms - after DC3 arrives I'm going to give the copper coil a go, I've not found anything hormonal I can tolerate either.
