Overhaul my life?

Hi,

NC for this as I'm a bit embarrassed.

So the story is I feel like I've hit a stumbling block in most areas of my life. I'm coasting really and not very happy. Outwardly people must think I've got a great life. Nice home, holidays, beautiful kids, SAHM etc.

But I'm 40ish, in a rut and bloody lonely.

I seem to spend a lot of time just at home doing very little. My friends have their own lives to live and tbh I feel that they are drifting or heading in their own directions (came as a really upsetting shock to me but have to accept it).

My DH is fine but works and has other interests too that keep him busy although he is very involved with me and the DCs.

I just feel stuck. Bored maybe. I want to change everything. I'm not hugely overweight but I am aiming to lose a couple of stone. I have travel plans to look forward to. But day to day I'm finding myself getting more and more isolated.

Maybe I need a project? A routine that would get me out more? I don't know. But anything that might give me a boost would be a start.

Any suggestions? Thanks for reading if you got to the end of my pity party Blush

I'm in a similar position OP

Early 40s, youngest starting school soon.

I do have passions and hobbies, mostly to do with fitness. But I feel I need more. I'd love a job but it would have to fit in school hours and not holidays etc

Considering training to be a personal trainer but not sure I have the confidence!

@Bedsidedrawer, why not get qualified to teach gym classes like BodyAttack, BodyPump or Zumba? I have a friend who does it on the side and earns an extra £600 a month on top of her FT job!

Bedsidedrawer · 13/03/2019 12:29

That sounds like a great plan holyforkingshit

OP I do find fitness clubs/classes at least get me out with people.
I'm actually a bit introverted and love to read but I found once I got out socialising that I felt so much better.
I don't get lonely really but I do get bored. I've been so devoted to my kids and DH and his career (I don't regret this).

Our local 'adult learning' centre runs quite a few Art / craft courses I wouldn't mind doing!
Silver jewellery making, photography, Textiles...
Are there any near you?

cuervos · 13/03/2019 20:58

I've started a free course online today. I know this doesn't solve my social issue but I'm feeling more focused.

Just want to thank everyone who responded to my thread. I feel like I just needed a kick up the arse to actually do something. I'm going to volunteer as well. Can't see any negatives in doing that! So thanks

Not the guy from the Dragon's Den, if that's what you mean. I've bought it and it's good. I got it on recommendation from Mumsnet too.

Lisette1940 · 13/03/2019 23:36

Your best year yet by Jenny Ditzler also worth a look.

Happyspud · 13/03/2019 23:41

Join the local golf club. It’s not really a sport 😬 But great way to become part of something and build a gang.
