Help! Recommend me a car if I get foot cramp

I get dreadful cramp in my feet and I find that a car where I can be more on top of the pedals is better, as it means I have to bend my foot up/down less.
We currently have our 2nd Mercedes A Class (the older style).
My previous comfortable cars have been a Landrover Defender and a VW beetle. Neither of which is practical in a town with two DCs.
DH says the car's getting old, the boot is small, it needs its MOT etc. etc. all the usual excuses by the car-obsessed to get a new car.
I'd happily stick with this one but at some point we'll need a new one I imagine.
We usually buy low mileage used cars, and the A class switched to a new shape/arrangement just after we got ours so we can't get another one which is new enough.
I am also quite short and not very strong and the handbrake needs a blokey angle of pulling and a blokey strength to pull it so something that avoids that would be good too.

Sorry no car advice but have you tried upping your potassium levels for the cramps?

rslsys · 13/03/2019 08:21

We had an 'old shape' A Class. Replaced it with a B Class. Loads of space and lots of toys. Handbrake is electric so no effort to use. Seating position is quite upright despite the car's profile being lower than the A.
Don't go for a model with low profile tyres or run flat tyres - the ride quality is appalling!

I will put the B class to DH!

Have you seen a doctor about the cramp and made sure you're still OK to drive ? Doesn't sound brilliantly safe if you need to hit the brake in an emergency ...

Easterbunnyiscomingsoon · 13/03/2019 12:00

Well obviously you need a chauffeur op....

DameFanny · 13/03/2019 12:13

This is why I drive in heels - a stable, stacked heel I can pivot on easily. Cars are designed for men, damn them.

Look at VW Touran. Massive storage and driving position is more "dining chair style"
Also agree with pp to try different shoes, I can't drive very far in flats.

DG
I never get it in our current car. So you can stand down on the panicking.

Easter I'll put that to DH but I am not confident...

Sadly I never wear heels. I agree that cars are made for men - I have the short woman issues of sun visor and seatbelt!
