Places in the U.K. like Centreparcs but cheaper?

We’ve been to Centreparcs a couple of times and the kids loved it. They keep asking when we can go again. I’ve just checked on their website for a weekend at the beginning of October half term, it’s £800 for a basic villa for the four of us and bloody £65 for the dog!!
Is there anywhere lovely like Centreparcs in the U.K. but less of a rip off!!?

Not exactly same but we went to hotel in Torquay:

www.booking.com/hotel/gb/derwent.en-gb.html?aid=330631&label=msn-E4SfVLqGl9pqm_1vX_MpuA-2971050498%3Atikwd-3544324543%3Aloc-188%3Aneo%3Amte%3Adec%3Aqsderwent%20hotel%20torquay&sid=f958bb765da3227e146b0188511651a4&srpvid=120176331b1d0010&ucfs=1&srpvid=120176331b1d0010&srepoch=1552409319&hpos=1&hapos=1&dest_id=-2610007&dest_type=city&sr_order=popularity&from=searchresults;highlight_room=#hotelTmpl

Has three pools, bowling, pool table, kids play area, tourist train stops outside, by the beach, by a zoo on beach and kids activity programme in school holidays. Pool in Torquay with slides walking distance, also has wave machine. Train station in Torquay.

Bluestone in Wales is fantastic and much cheaper than Centreparcs. There are a range of accommodation and activities as well as affordable groceries and meals on site. It is also in a beautiful national park.

My quote for bluestone was £3k in school holidays I wouldn’t say it was much cheaper. Maybe it is in term time.

Sandy Balls New Forest

We liked Warmwell too and there's loads of places to visit nearby.

Sockwomble · 12/03/2019 17:44

If you like the pool/ indoor activities at center parcs then a winter weekend would be much cheaper.

£800 for a basic villa for the four of us
See I don't think that's bad. It's £66 per person per night and for that you get a two bedroom villa and unlimited entry to a very good water park.

Mine are grown up now Wex though I suspect they'd still jump at the offer of a weekend in CP!

Haven are on the coast, vary in what they offer but some offer very similar facilities but there's less yummy mummies from Hampstead!

Out of season a hotel might be cheaper if you don't care for slides - paid £600 for bogey castle including dog for 3 nights breakfast included plus one evening meal 5stars!

@Potten my late DH and I went to the Manor House Hotel between Christmas and the New Year one year when he couldn't drive for medical reasons and I hadn't learnt by then.

We took a train to Exeter and then a fast coach/bus to Oakhampton and finished the journey with a short taxi ride from the town to the hotel.
It took a while but we were sitting for most of the journey!

Thanks fourquenelles and UselessTrees, those both look great. Ribby Hall looks fantastic for young dc. Torquay also looks good.

I see you've been to Duinrell but have you tried other Centre Parks in Europe? We've been to a couple and loved them. So much cheaper than in the UK. I'd also check when the European school holidays are, they may not be when the English half term is.

Agree Hoseasons or Parkdean holidays, some of which are easily accessible for public transport!
