Car damage

Could the damage to the car pictured below have been caused by mounting a kerb?
We've had car for two weeks. I've used it for the school run where I parked away from the school in a spot with loads of space around me and walked the rest of the way. I've also used it in a shopping centre and used the surface car park as opposed to the underground and again parked away from the entrance with loads of space around me. Husband had the car mounted a kerb the other day and didn't think anything of it but now he is saying I scratched the car. Any one any thoughts. I did post this in AIBU but thought this be more suitable.

Can't really get a sense of scale or perspective from that picture, but damage to lower bumper going up or down a kerb without using the ramp could do this.

You would probably hear it though.

Maybe if at speed but it looks more like a scuff from a post or another car such as when reversing out of a parking space.

Blushpeony · 12/03/2019 12:13

Definitely heard him clip the kerb as I commented on it but then I was busy taking the kids out of the car and thought no more about it why would I. It's only because he is blatantly blaming me for the scratch I'm a bit defensive.

that's a kerb catch because of it's position - he is at fault

Seeline · 12/03/2019 12:15

If that is the front bumper, it would have to have been a very high kerb surely?
Also, the scratch is horizontal which is more likely to mean a scuff from a wall or post.

bonzo77 · 12/03/2019 12:20

Hard to tell from the picture. Would have needed to be a fairly high kerb. More likely to be caused by clipping a wall or another car (or another car clipping you).

Also is that the drivers side? If so then someone’s attempted to park (and therefore drive) on the wrong side of the road (assuming not a one way street)...

Blushpeony · 12/03/2019 12:21

Meant to add mark is on drivers side and kerb was also on drivers side. My husband is a much better driver than I am I will be the first to admit that. I had a car accident a while back and my confidence hit a low and as a result I'm extra cautious. If I caused this I put my hand up but I can't work out how as I've written down everywhere I went the last two weeks whereas he won't entertain the idea it was him.

Does it really matter who did it? I have a similar scrape on my car, which both DH and I drive. Neither of us can remember doing it (it's possible that it was done by a third party on a car park) so we've shrugged and put T-cut on the shopping list.

Blushpeony · 12/03/2019 12:40

@WitchDancer not really but it's the fact he hasn't been very nice to me about it so I'm just trying to fight my corner to be honest.

go and look at the kerb he parked on and see how high it is compared to your bumper

Blushpeony · 12/03/2019 13:02

@alwaysthepessimist that's a good idea. I won't get a chance today but I will be passing there tomorrow.
