Soft play for older children/teens?

PoptartPoptart · 12/03/2019 10:29

Has anyone ever come across a soft play aimed at older children, ie 13 year olds?

DS is way too tall for the traditional soft play aimed at younger kids, but I think it’s a real shame that good old fashioned physical fun play seems to be limited to the preteen years.

I’m thinking more of an adult style assault course but in like a soft play setting? Surely something like this must exist? If not, it should!

I’m in Surrey but would happily travel if anyone can recommend one?

Near me there's a place that has a ninja warrior type soft play for older ones. Unfortunately, being south Wales, it might be a bit far. Also went to one between Bath & Bristol that had vertical drop slides which was perfect for my 10 & 12 year olds. Anything like that near you?

Trampoline parks - Flipout, Gravity Force etc are chains, might be one near you?

Bathbombs · 12/03/2019 10:38

Yes ninja warrior would be perfect
Clip and climb
Trampoline parks
Some national trust places have great outdoor adventure playgrounds
There’s inflatanation in Manchester so maybe similar elsewhere

There somewhere near Abingdon (Millet's Farm) that's big enough for small adults. I don't know if it has an age limit though.

There's an Airhop trampoline park in Guildford that my 9 and 12 year olds enjoy. Depending on where you are in Surrey (we're on the Hampshire border) there's a Flip Out in Chichester which is their favourite.

Check out regular soft play websites, one we saw on holiday at a Friday night youth event. Was a bit hidden on their website though, but definitely worth a bit of a dig.

He’s already a big fan of trampoline parks and regularly goes to AirHop, Gravity Force, Jump Giants, etc.

I guess I’m looking for a traditional soft play with climbing and ropes and slides but aimed at older kids (and adults too maybe - a good way to keep fit and have fun!)

There is a big inflatable park in Milton Keynes. I forget what it’s called

adventure.ninjawarrioruk.co.uk
I didn’t realise there weren’t more of these-maybe a business opportunity?!

Bathbombs · 12/03/2019 11:50

As teenagers (over 20 years ago!) my friends and I quite regularly went to a soft play centre on a Friday evening! We used to love it

PoptartPoptart · 12/03/2019 12:04

Those Ninja Warrior parks look amazing and not something I’ve ever come across before, thanks!

Flipout have some obstacles, slides etc and do a weekend adult session I think.

memememe · 12/03/2019 12:50

oxygen trampoline park in croydon has a bear grills activity course, playzone in portsmouth has drop slides and does a teen night. also chobham adventure farm has drop slides as well and is better for bigger kids!

There is a parkour gym near where I live. I suppose it's the opposite to soft play, lots of scaffolding and hard surfaces but lots of leaping about and playing with tyres. Might similar be of interest?

howtohelp99 · 12/03/2019 13:01

There is a place called kidspace in Croydon - have a feeling there is one in Basildon as well. That might suit........

I'm pretty sure they are allowed in it at that age.

PoptartPoptart · 12/03/2019 15:19

Some brilliant suggestions, thanks all.

Early teens is such a tricky age, they act all grown up one minute but there are still times when they want to play like they did when they were younger!

There's a place called Jump'in down in Sussex. It might fit requirements. It's an inflatable jump park/course.

OhHolyFcuk · 12/03/2019 15:37

Any 'go ape' type things near you?

sugarbum · 12/03/2019 15:39

interested as well. DS1 just turned 12, but he's been far too big for soft play for about 4 years (he's 5ft 7 now) and its a real shame. Especially as they always have 12 as the age restriction, but then they add a height restriction too which is generally about 4ft 9. There are some great places in the area which would work for small adults, but they don't seem to do sessions for older age groups.

Spaghettio · 12/03/2019 16:00

There's a place in Hemel Hempstead called XC. It has climbing and indoor caving as well as an indoor skate ramp and other "teenagery" things to do.

Meet0nTheledge · 12/03/2019 16:03

Mine also enjoys donutting at the local dry ski slope (Aldershot if you are on the Hampshire side of Surrey).

Spaghettio · 12/03/2019 16:07

There's also a dry ski slope at Sandown in Esher
