Solid wood floor advice

Just as the title says really. Im after some advice from those of you with solid wood flooring. We are finally getting round to updating our home. Atm we have dark wood laminate throughout the downstairs but im longing for a walnut/dark solid wood floor.

Is it a horror to maintain? Can you mop it?

Thankyou in advance

I have parquet so not quite the same. Not a horror at all. Lakeland do some wonderful products.

I have engineered oak flooring down stairs because we have underfloor heating. I vacuum it about twice a week and tend to mop it with a rung out mop about once a fortnight. The main thing is to make sure there are no small stones underfoot that scratch it and ban stilettos at the door! It will get dinks when things are dropped but that’s life. Mine has been down 6 years now and it still looks as good as it did when it went down. Wood will change colour over the years and there will be a variation under rugs/furniture.

No it’s a dream to maintain. Sweep or vacuum and a slightly damp mop once a week.

You need to make sure that chair legs have felt pads on them and that you lift, don’t drag, sofas and other heavy items.

I have solid oak flooring ( not engineered ) covering the entire downstairs area, i just give it a once over with the hoover which is a cylinder and then a mopping with a normal mop and bucket with flash in it once a week.
I had it professionally sanded and re-polished last year as it has been down around 12 years and was a little scratched in places. It was like new once it was done.

We have a solid oak block hall floor which has been down over 30 years to my knowledge and possibly much longer.
A quick sweep of hoover and some non-slip polish occasionally keep it looking good.
