If you ask they will often take it into your kitchen but it does really depend on the driver. I came across a couple of nice one whilst pregnant and with a small baby. One even offered to unpack my shopping. We do live in a small rural area so driver may have less drops to do.

Windingstreams · 11/03/2019 13:29

Ocado always take it into the house but I used a different shop once and they just watched me - I thought it was odd too

jessfarringdon · 11/03/2019 13:32

I know the feeling! I've never been helped by the Asda staff. Half the time they've actually driven off and not even delivered as it is difficult to park near mine, but they don't even try.

Bookworm4 · 11/03/2019 13:33

Could you not have put baby down?

Rainatnight · 11/03/2019 13:34

He definitely could have helped! How rude. I always ask would they mind taking it into the kitchen and they always help.

TheHolySmirk · 11/03/2019 13:35

I'd have put the baby down for a start.

I think the drivers dislike stairs.

They are usually happy enough to bring stuff in if it doesn't involve convoluted hallways or stairs, which is fair enough really.

ALannisterInDebt · 11/03/2019 13:45

Next time tick the 'with carrier bags' box on checkout (so you won't have lots of items loose in the boxes to unpack)

Drivers are only obliged to bring boxes to your door, although some are nicer and more accommodating than others.

foobio · 11/03/2019 13:45

There is a box to tick if you want it delivered in carrier bags. I take a couple of IKEA bags to the front door and can quickly empty the crates into those. Not surprised it caught you out though if it's your first time and you didn't do the order!

CaseofEllen · 11/03/2019 14:13

He could've easily helped regardless if it's 'in his job description' or not. It's just a nice thing to do 🤷🏻‍♀️

ChandelierSail · 11/03/2019 14:17

Did you ask him to take it through to the kitchen? I've got a bad back so I always ask and they've never said no. And that was Tesco's.

Jinglejanglefish · 11/03/2019 14:20

Yea I probably would have put the baby down if I was struggling

MooFeatures · 11/03/2019 14:20

Punctuation is your friend

Michaelbaubles · 11/03/2019 14:24

Tesco don’t offer the plastic bags option any more. A pain as my kitchen is upstairs. I can take the boxes up but I find them hard to get up the narrow staircase as they’re often heavy and awkward when you’re quite short. And yes, they do just stand and watch. It’s really annoying.

EmmaJR1 · 11/03/2019 14:43

I had a Tesco delivery this morning with bags... and the driver asked if I wanted it bought in...

Think you just got a crap one!

balalalala · 11/03/2019 14:45

Tesco are great here. I've never had a driver not offer to carry everything into the kitchen for me and 4 out of 5 help unload things onto the side. One time when dd was really little I wasn't feeling well and had to run into the bathroom to be sick and the lovely man put the fridge and freezer pieces away for me!

Aaaahfuck · 11/03/2019 14:45

I did delivery's for Waitrose years ago while at uni. The expectation was you brought the food into their home. So if it was a flat you went up the stairs if no lift was available.

PinkHeart5914 · 11/03/2019 14:47

Well obviously I would of put baby down, it would of been for just a couple of minutes baby would of coped.

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 11/03/2019 14:56

Our Tescoman always brings the crates into the kitchen so I can unload from there. One guy - out of 1-2 deliveries a week for >10 years - will bring the crates in but dump them 6 foot away from where I've pointed to, whilst smirking each time. He's a twat though, and only does it when there's me alone in the house.

kayza85 · 11/03/2019 15:41

Ok thanks guys ya I did put baby down once I relized that I had to put it all on my floor lol he he o and punchuation is my friend lol I'm just a lazy typer lol :)

PrawnOfCreation · 11/03/2019 16:17

but dump them 6 foot away from where I've pointed to

Imagine how shit his life is.

aintnothinbutagstring · 11/03/2019 16:34

I had a Tesco driver like that, maybe it's the same area! I do Ocado mainly and they'll put the bags wherever you want, I tend to take them at the door as I don't want muddy boots inside, but they'll hand you the bags not just watch you struggle taking them from the box.

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 11/03/2019 20:01

Imagine how shit his life is Must be pretty shit, to get off on a power play like that. If his job is to bring the crates into the kitchen - and every other person does it and even he does if my DH is there - but if it's just me he dumps them in the hall while looking at me and smirking, simply because he can - well yeah I'm not going to spend much time thinking about what a tough life he leads.

Bigonesmallone3 · 11/03/2019 20:11

If I was a driver I wouldn't want to help/walk through someone's front door without an invite..

If u had said 'could u please bring the crates through to the kitchen so I can empty them there'

I doubt he would of said no

AnxiousMcAnxiousFace · 11/03/2019 20:14

I really don’t like the delivery drivers coming in to my house. I always just tell them to leave it on the doorstep but then I carry the bags through to the kitchen as they unload the van.
