Your no-fail tips for getting out of a slump!

I'm in a slump. I'm feeling so "bleurgh" and I think it's become a vicious circle now - I'm not spending much time on my appearance (because I feel ugly, but of course I look worse because I'm not spending time on myself!), I'm not getting outside, I'm not exercising...

I had a crappy year last year with anxiety, anaemia (heavy periods) and stuff. I had a blood test last week and my red blood count is still too low at 3.63 but my ferritin has gone from 33 to 90, so my hair has stopped falling out. I'm feeling less tired. But still "bleurgh"

So I can take vitamins, but what else? I don't feel ill, I feel a bit depressed, but I think I could get myself better if I took some steps. I just don't know what steps will work the fastest!

Thanks

That sounds great op!
I’m prone to slumps too and I can usually correlate it to the amount of time I’m on my phone looking at crap and the food I eat.

So, I’ve taken steps to eat healthily and I’m going to put my phone down for longer periods and pick up a book or do something with the kids.

@ILiveInSalemsLot you're right -- I've been glued to my phone and the fridge for weeks. That's probably what's caused this...

I too am prone to a slump. I recognise the all or nothing approach, that's how I live my life, it's exhausting. I'm also a WW member, have lost 3st but not it's gone all a bit wrong.

Reading this thread, I've had fruit, yogurt and granola for breakfast and took a multivitamin. So thanks for the prompt:)

Now just got to make it through the day without sticking my head in the biscuit barrel

@MollysLips I've only read the book but its the bit when she works in the Mexican restaurant for years and doesn't apply to any other jobs even though she's got a 1st...

DS has been poorly so the house is a tip but I have applied for 3 jobs and finally made and posted 2 new baby cards I've been thinking about for weeks. Hopefully he'll be well enough for nursery tomorrow!

DM is visiting and making us all a healthy lunch :)

@whymustyoubringinthebirds - I also love true crime podcasts. Serial and Real Crime Profile are my favourite (I love Laura Richards in the latter!). Podcasts are a great alternative to reading if concentrating is hard.

@Molly My medical stuff is ongoing - diagnosed with advanced cancer a year ago. I am responding well to treatment and have a good quality of life, but the change in pace is a struggle. I used to be very focused on my career and always training for a marathon / event etc. Slowing down has been HARD...hence the slump...there seems a very faint (i.e. I can't find it) line between resting / pacing mysef and slumping into a fog of apathy.

Today was an OK day...did not achieve much apart from going to appointments, but I am fine with that. I did have a shower with some new, lovely toiletries...then remembered to wear perfume and smiled every time I caught a faint wiff of it during the day!

Tomorrow I intend to sort out some admin stuff for our holiday in April. My other focus will be to eat healthy...a brand new Greengrocers has opened on our high street so I think I'll pop in after school run and treat myself to something different....
