Does your DD play netball for a club? How do they do team selection?

My DD's club doesn't seem well run but I appreciate the time that adults give up to run activities for young people, so I am not looking to complain, just curious to see how other clubs manage the selection process before the new season.

At DD's club the coaching is done by a few people on a rotation, none of whom go to the competitive matches. Is that usual in netball? I only have experience of other sports with my other dc.

I meant to say - the selection is conducted by the coaches who run training but they never see the girls play in proper competitive matches.

That seems weird.
Are you sure there isn't another criteria going on? In the early days at football, it is common to rotate players at matches so that everyone gets the experience/match time. They even rotate the positions. It is often only at 10/11 that the positions become more sticky and the match places are competitively given.
If they're playing a weak team, they field the subs normally, again to give them match time.

At my Dd's club, they select the teams based on the training sessions. The coaches are usually at the matches because a lot of them are also playing. I also play at a club with a junior section. Girls are selected to play based on training attendance, ability, and general conduct. Sometimes because of the number of girls, they'll be selected as part of a squad of say 10 or 12. So although they've been selected, not everyone will get to play in the actual match.
