Stupid question, but how much does it cost to watch a live broadcast of a theatre production at the cinema?

I can't find details online. Would like to see it live but can't afford it, so thought this would be the next best thing, but can't find price info!

It's roughly between £15 and £20 depending on the show and your eligibility for concessions

Here are the prices for the King and I

£18.80 for As You Like It at my local cineworld

I saw The Nutcracker at Vue before Christmas and it was £17 each (iirc) - I thought it was a bit pricey beforehand but it was so worth it though!

I know it's not as good as actually being there - but is it worth the money?

Definately worth it.
Took ds to see 12th Night at local theatre cost £12 each. Was fab he loved it. We wouldmt get to see rSC any other way.

PrivateIsles · 10/03/2019 23:14

I agree, it was well worth it. What I hadn't thought of beforehand was that the cameras are quite close to the stage, so you see everything at close range - whereas if you were there at the theatre, you'd probably be a lot further from the stage ( unless you had amazing tickets ofc!).

It was a v different experience from being there "live" but still really enjoyable. I would go again, definitely.

That's good to know. How far in advance can you book? The few I'm looking at are advertised on the cinema website but without the option to book.

saw the two "Frankensteins" this way - well worth it if you can't fight for or get to London for tickets. Great view and at least halfway to being there

I have never been to a live performance in the cinema but I am curious to know , do the cinema audience clap and get involved in the show? Or I remember when they were showing Take That concert and was wondering if the audience get up and dance or just sit in their seats?

cloudymelonade · 11/03/2019 01:51

It's brilliant, well worth a try if you can't make the real thing :)

MarvinMarvinson · 11/03/2019 02:13

I regularly go and really enjoy it. I'm nowhere near London so wouldn't get to see these things otherwise and couldn't afford them anyway. Our cinema is empty for them usually so no need to book in advance.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 11/03/2019 03:06

I've been to quite a few and I think they are definitely worth the money. I saw Tosca live from the NY Met which I'd never have got to see in real life. I also saw the Benedict Cumbebatch version of Hamlet - tickets for the live performance were completely sold out so seeing it at the cinema was the next best thing.

A friend went to the Take That concert at the local cinema and said that everyone was up and dancing .

I go quite frequently! Normally £15pp for me. It's really good, obviously doesn't compare to the real thing in London, but it's still amazing.
