Is this hormones.. feeling fine then suddenly headache and sick.
Sometimes being sick then feeling better.

Other times just nausea.
Took her to doctors, tested urine Etc all fine but said heart murmur? Or something like that but doctor Said when unwell... the heart can do this. She's going back to check this week but do these symptoms sound like anything?

So all today fine. Then suddenly feeling sick.was actually sick. Felt better. Bouncing round
Then suddenly headache and tired...

DD had dreadful headaches and nausea 3 years ago to the extent we had to keep her off school for 3 weeks. She was no good for anything. She had MRI scans, a couple of hospital admissions, ECGs and blood tests and they found nothing.

We tried all sorts of things and finally I found someone on a chat board describing her daughter's very very similar symptoms and saying that even though her iron levels were apparently OK they tried giving her iron supplements (they were desperate) and the headaches went within a few days. We did the same and DD was back at school a few days later. Now we give her iron daily and the headaches have never recurred unless we forget the iron.

Its odd - her iron levels were on the face of it fine - we've never worked it out but it worked

Wow! .she drinks a ton of milk and I did read somewhere that milk can inhibit the absorb of iron so I did start to think about that today!
Would you give 11 year old iron tablets or wait for blood tests

I started to give my eldest daughter iron supplements from about 11/12. She uses Feroglobin liquid - I just pick it up in Tesco. I can't help with the headaches but I heard anecdotally that iron supplements could help with "growing pains" which she did suffer from and she wouldn't have a particularly iron rich diet to begin with.

I started with migraines at that age. Similar symptoms. Headache and nausea, sometimes flashing lights and pins and needles on one side. It all came back during the menopause!

FurrySlipperBoots · 10/03/2019 21:40

Wait for blood tests. My sister was made unwell by iron tablets, ironically. Best to take medical advice anyway.

Furryslipperboots is right. Our solution was born of desperation.. its hard to see your child sobbing for hours because of the pain and no cause or solution being offered. Wait for an answer from doctors first and maybe reduce milk consumption in short term.

If you do want to try hariborange do a multivitamin with iron. Its aimed at children so may be worth a try over anything for adults but wouldn't do anything more drastic yet.

Thanks I got floridax today it's for children as we'll and won't harm it looks like supplement rather than medicine.

She's not sobbing too much it's just length of time this has Been going on for...

be careful - too much iron is actually very bad for you long term

CielBleuEtNuages · 11/03/2019 16:34

My first thought was migraines but I'm biased as I get them as does my now 7 year old son. For my 7 year old we had 10 months of daily headaches, nausea, sickness and tonnes of tests and Drs before a diagnosis.

After 4 weeks on a preventative treatment he was a completely different child. Bloody fantastic treatment.
