Moving into a new house with my partner. We've both previously lived with parents/houseshares so it's all new to us!

What's the best tip you could give someone moving into their own home? Things to do/not to do, what to buy or not bother with. Anything and everything Grin very excited!

Was also going to defend Ikea. It's not all flat pack crap, that's pure snobbery. If you're going to buy a coffee table for £6 then yes, sure. But we have a solid pine wardrobe that's 20 years old and as good as the day we built it. And our bookcases will see us out!

We got the keys to our house and then the same afternoon flew off on holiday for a week (bad timing!) I wouldn't recommend it.

Thanks all! Love the marital tips too grin he is fairly good, I've already told him that I don't expect to come home to a shit tip - he works from home!

00100001 It's shared ownership so we haven't been able to choose anything. The plumbing needs sorting as how it is means there's only space in the kitchen for one plumbed item, be it dishwasher or washing machine. We want a dishwasher so will be putting our washing machine into a sizeable downstairs toilet room. To make it fit we will need to do some jigging about. Flooring we will keep for a while but it has really light carpet throughout and we don't personally like carpet in the hallway.
