Top tips for surviving putting in a new kitchen?

DH emptied all of the cupboards yesterday and the fear has hit. We've put 2 DC in the one room temporarily and are using the spare room as storage (plus microwave and kettle). It sounds organised but dear god Shock

Joiner is coming tomorrow to rip out the existing kitchen.

How can I get through the next two weeks?!

We had 2 months of the old worktop balanced on saw horses whilst I fitted our kitchen. It needed a lot doing to the shell and we had a 3mo baby which is why it took so long. 2 months isn't typical to be using a field kitchen! (I fit kitchens as part of my job) Between the microwave, kettle, toaster, 2 gas camping stoves, and the BBQ we were fine.
I agree with PP that you miss fresh stuff. I got around this by buying a lot of steam in the bag veg. Waitrose was my friend as their ready meals and prepped veg is really nice, although be careful not to accidentally pick up ready meals that come in metal trays... 🤦🏻‍♀️
The dust is awful. We kept out the absolute minimum of kitchen- and tableware and sealed the rest away behind plastic (you can buy rolls of thin stuff you cut to length). We had 1 set of tableware each, 1 frying pan, 1 small saucepan, 1 large saucepan, a spatula, a mixing spoon, and 1 mixing bowl IIRC.
The shitest part IMO is the washing up. We used a tough tub in the bath and minimised the washing as much as possible with the ready meals and basic kitchenware. It's a killer on the back and knees well, DH's back and knees as that's his domain!

Ooh and I got good at making things in the toaster and sandwich maker !!

If yiu get a slow cooker (I love mine).. then in your situation I would use the liners as they mean a quick wipe in hot water rather then scrubbing a heavy dish.

We had no kitchen for seven weeks while we had an extension built. We scoured the internet for microwave recipes, it's amazing what can actually be cooked in a microwave, we are at places like toby carvery or takeaways, lots of salads and we were fortunate that it was summer and so we had a very high amount of barbecues, but used disposable ones as we couldn't wash up the main one properly.
Don't try to wash up in a bathroom sink as there's a high risk of it getting broken if something is dropped in it. We filled a washing up bowl with a large jug, stood it on towels and put a drying rack on towels.
Dust will be an on going issue so be prepared for that.
Two weeks isn't long and it will be worth it. Good luck!

For two weeks you will be fine. We went away the middle weekend (it was a birthday) and I had a very clean builder. We used the slow cooker, microwave and local takeaways. At the time it was a nightmare as my car broke down so I was stuck in the house but I can barely remember it all now. It is so worth it! Good luck.
