Where can you buy nice cotton pants? Why are there so many pants in artificial fabrics?

Where does everyone buy good underwear nowadays? All my recent black Primark pants keep falling apart in the washing machine. This never used to happen.

Also, apart from the practical/ comfy style - where do people tend to get things like French knickers?

Though my post should have said sloggi too 😂

I can’t see why you have a problem. Cotton knickers are everywhere in the shops.

But french knickers are not so clingy and cooler in summer though.

Personally, I haven’t worn all cotton knix for years. They remind me of my school days, have no stretch and go baggy round the bum. Stretch lace moves with you and, as lace is full of holes, although often synthetic, it breathes. Win win.

I've always bought M & S multipacks but now they seem to be designed to cause eczema on my hips.

One pack had the label on the side seam which I had to cut out of each pair, but the fabric was so flimsy it just started unravelling so they all have a nice hole now.

Next pack I checked for labels, middle of the back, thought that would be safe. Turns out the ends of the side seams were weirdly rough and felt a bit like melted plastic. So I had eczema on both hips, tried to cut the rough bits out, holes in both sides and unravelling seams.

I'll try the supermarkets next time.

I recently picked up some H&M Conscious ones and they are really nice, and a great fit.

Richlyfruited · 10/03/2019 12:51

The M&S cotton multipacks are truly awful now - I bought some recently after mine literally disintegrated after years of use and the new ones have lasted all of a few months before unraveling. The sizing seems to have shrunk too!

I'm going to try Sainsbury's or bite the bullet and get some Sloggi ones!

DontCallMeShitley · 10/03/2019 13:24

I have found that M&S, ASDA, Debenhams etc. have added stretch to the 'cotton' ones, not seen pure cotton for ages. Some of them are so slippery they slide about.

EdtheBear · 10/03/2019 14:46

I've got pure cotton from m&s. I was in an eco mode when buying and noticed they only had 1 multi pack without lycra.

Sloggi

jackparlabane · 10/03/2019 15:04

Sloggi are 4% elastane, not pure cotton. So are all the ones at my local Sainsburys and almost all the ones in stock at M&S, though you can order 100% cotton to M&S.

I've also noticed that the M&S ones fall apart now, as did some from Peacocks - so if anyone has found good 100% cotton, I'd love to know.

Fat Face - wait for the sale (which seems to come round every few weeks or so)

StarlightLady · 12/03/2019 06:53

Do you wash everything before first wear? Given your comments, you might surprise yourself an be better off with some of the softer synthetics. There are lots available without the side seam. In addition, some cottons use heavy insecticides which in itself can cause problems. Likewise cotton dyes are stronger than those used on synthetic fabrics.

I get good basic bikinis in Waitrose - completely plain, black or white only, 95% cotton overall, 100% cotton gusset, lasting well so far. They come in packs of 5 and if you want anything fancy these aren't the ones!
