If you had to choose between music or TV?

Which one would you choose?

For me I always have music on and could quite easily live without a TV. DH on the other hand is really into films so he could not give up the TV.

I know you can get music via the TV / computer / phone etc but I am talking hypothetically if you had to choose between one or the other which would it be?

Music; I don't tend to watch much tv.

I spent a couple of hours with dd1 earlier on (before she vanished back to her pit bedroom) playing Oasis, Franz Ferdinand & a whole variety of music. She said they were all "rank" Shock and needed auto-tune! But she did listen before telling me my musical taste was awful (current favourite cd = Brandon Flowers', Flamingo).

Definitely TV. I watch so much TV...sahm with school age dc, it's always on when I'm alone at home.

Only listen to music occasionally.

Slowknitter · 09/03/2019 21:45

Tv. I do love music, but I don't get as much enjoyment from it as I do from the films and tv shows I love. I hardly ever watch scheduled tv but watch series on Netflix, Amazon Prime etc.

icarriedaturnip · 09/03/2019 21:46

Music, we do watch TV but we spend a lot of our time listening to music. The TV is mainly for DC, but if we got rid of it it’d mean more quality time together so it’s a win win really

GrumpyOldMare · 09/03/2019 21:55

Neither.
Books all the time.

Rockbird · 09/03/2019 22:09

Music. The world is so much better with it and you can take it anywhere, even in your head. I love certain TV shows but music wins every time.

PierreBezukov · 09/03/2019 22:12

Music definitely. As I get older it's more important and I'm listening to more and more classical music.

MusicToMyEars800 · 09/03/2019 22:13

MUSIC hence my username GrinGrin

Bubblegumgal · 09/03/2019 22:22

Hmmm.... I love music. It’s so expressive. But TV is good escapism.... I think music 👌

Hanumantelpiece · 09/03/2019 22:23

Music. I don't watch much TV but I really enjoy listening to music.

GlitterPixie · 09/03/2019 22:24

This would be REALLY tough but I think I’d choose tv over music

RomanyQueen1 · 09/03/2019 22:39

It's weird I'm married to a musician and have a dd musician. I'm always surprised at how little pleasure they get from listening to music. They chill out with tv, Netflix and tell me to turn mine off.
I wear headphones until a weekend like this when they aren't in and my music isn't off. I listen to all sorts, whatever takes my fancy.

burntdinner · 09/03/2019 22:42

Tv , I don't watch it much ( just bought a new one after 4 years without one ) but never listen to music as a choice unless out and it's someone else's in the background

Meet0nTheledge · 09/03/2019 22:57

Not an age thing for me either, I'm in my 50s and was obsessed with music when I was younger, one of my teenage DCs plays music all the time, sings, does musical theatre, we love going to musicals together. So I get lots of exposure to music, I just don't feel the need to play it myself very often these days which is what I assumed we were talking about. I get more out of TV, podcasts, radio 4 and 5Live than the inane chatter on many of the music stations.

SatsumaFan · 09/03/2019 22:58

Music. Didn't even have to think about it.

TrainSong · 09/03/2019 23:00

Music. I wouldn't miss TV much but I'd miss music badly.

GottenGottenGotten · 09/03/2019 23:05

Music, without any hesitation.

But I'd still go to the cinema if that was allowed...

Hiddenaspie1973 · 09/03/2019 23:10

Music

babysharkah · 09/03/2019 23:11

Love tv but couldn't live without music.

itsabongthing · 09/03/2019 23:12

TV! But it would be a tougher choice between radio and TV. Love radio 4.

JaneJeffer · 10/03/2019 00:03

Music. Couldn't cope with a life with no music. I'd have serious Emmerdale withdrawal though!

SarahBeeney · 10/03/2019 00:05

TV and I'm a professional musician!
I never listen to music.

Floralnomad · 10/03/2019 00:07

TV I love my sports channels .

Cocolepew · 10/03/2019 00:09

Music

ittooshallpass · 10/03/2019 08:33

No one needs to be sad on my behalf either.

Given the choice I would rather listen to talk radio. But that wasn't given as a choice.

Just because someone doesn't choose what you would doesn't make them sad.
